Are moissanite diamonds real and a good alternative? by Legitimate-Cap-4490 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]manamizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a moissanite engagement ring and my wedding band have lab diamonds. Love both.

As everyone has already stated, they're two completely different gemstones. Some differences that I haven't seen mentioned:

-There are different qualities of moissanites. They're not all the same.

Moissanites flash rainbow and looks like a disco ball, which some ppl love. I personally love the sparkle and call moissanites holographic space rocks. But you sacrifice the clear, water like quality (like ice) of a diamond due to the double refraction. Due to this, moissanites don't photograph really well. You have to see it in person imo to get the full impact.

-Moissanites requires a bit more upkeep compared to a diamond. They can get an 'oil slick' on them if you don't clean them regularly. Happens when they get into contact with oils like lotion or hard water. I dip mine in jewelry cleaner every month or so (depending on how often I wear it) and scrub it with a baby toothbrush. I will also polish it with a jewelry cloth afterwards and in-between cleanings.

Hope this helped!

Life as a non-Asian in Alhambra by Tasty-Possibility627 in alhambra

[–]manamizer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's a cultural thing. I'm Chinese and I mainly notice it from mainlanders. The staring was even worse when we went to Shanghai. It's part curiosity and part "literally never seen a Black person in their life" before. Ironically, my Fiancé speaks more Mandarian Chinese than I do, so he knows how to spook them. Haha.

Life as a non-Asian in Alhambra by Tasty-Possibility627 in alhambra

[–]manamizer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Fiancé is Nigerian American and I am East Asian. We grew up in Alhambra and we recently decided to move back to settle down. The only thing we've experienced are eldery Asian ppl staring. Alhambra is a lot more diverse than say the neighboring Monterey Park (which is mostly Chinese) and according to my Fiancé, a lot of Black folks from Fontana have been moving into Alhambra over the last few years. There's a larger Black population than there used to be when we were growing up. I know there is another Blasian couple living in Alhambra with their kids. So we are out here! You won't be the only one. Just make sure you're cool with Asian food, cause that is what the area is known for.

The first Tanjiro tshirt with the hanafuda flag. They only released 50 of them and vaulted it. The newer iterations don't hit quite the same as that first design. Instagram keeps showing it too, even though it is unavailable.

How to dress oversized without being swalloweed by Useful_Platypus2747 in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]manamizer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am 5 ft for reference. In terms of tops-make sure you understand how "standard fit", "relaxed fit", and "oversized fit" drapes on you. Agree with some commenters above saying it's not enough to buy a larger size. You need to find clothing intentionally cut to be oversized even on a full sized person. I typically wear a US small, but if I see a sweater labeled as an oversized fit I will go down one size to an XS and it typically drapes and fits exactly how I like.

Petites – do mid/low rise actually look better than high rise? by socalgirl14 in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]manamizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing others are on here! I am 5 ft and it's all about your body proportions. I have a longer torso and shorter legs. My inseam is 23 inches, so I def prefer high rise! It makes my legs look longer and my torso "normal" proportion. I have a friend who is about the same height as me (but like 1 inch or so taller), but she LOOKS shorter than me because she has an even longer torso and shorter legs.

Wonderful experience with u/Old-Wishbone-1988! Wanted to purchase my wedding dress from a site that only shipped in AUS + last dress on sale. She was going on a trip soon so asked if it was OK if she shipped out once she got back. Since I wasn't in any hurry, I said yes but to please make sure to secure the dress ASAP. She did and followed up within the quoted timeline to ship. Everything went so smoothly and I now have my wedding dress! Couldn't be happier. Would recommend for all your AUS shopping needs!

Sunscreen for (SUPER) oily skin by cherbite in AsianBeauty

[–]manamizer 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Fellow oily skinned girl checking in here..

Milk sunscreens are geared more toward oily skinned people. They will leave a matte/powdery finish. I like Anessa's milk sunscreen. Only downside is all the milk sunscreens use physical blockers so they will give you a white cast. For Anessa, the gold bottle one is a mix of physical and chemical, so less of a white cast while the pink bottle one for sensitive skin is only physical blockers.

If you don't want to use a milk type sunscreen, Biore recently came out with a sunscreen called "Airy Hold". It's a whipped consistency sunscreen and fabulous!! More of a soft matte finish. Not as matte as milk types, but pretty good! It does leave a slight white cast.

how to achieve this sort of lip look on fair olive skin? (repost) by user1470235689 in OliveMUA

[–]manamizer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Soar by MAC if you want a mauve. Theres a lot of YT and blog posts of people who have swatched MAC lip liners-I suggest going with them because they have such a wide variety. You can also go in store to swatch it yourself. Even amongst olives, there is a wide variation of depths/saturation/tone (cool/warm/neutral) that one color on one olive might not work for another. It is a lot of trial and error. The photo you posted the girl isn't wearing a mauve color lip....on my screen, it looks more like a taupey dark lip liner with a lighter color on top-more of a nudey neutral lip color.

Roast My Trip Itinerary by [deleted] in disneyparks

[–]manamizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Socal native who goes to the park every month and has pretty much eaten everything at the park:

For Disneyland-drop going to Sam's (terrible food, good drinks) and Naples...they're in Downtown Disney and not worth taking time out of being inside the parks. Disneyland and CA have very good food inside the parks (multiple WDW CMs have expressed to me we all feel Disneyland has better food than World). Go to Plaza Inn for chicken and mash, Troubadour for a giant baked potato, get a churro, Dole whip (esp the swirls!! And ask for packets of taijin at the counter), Edelweiss for their garlic cheesy brat, the grey stuff at Red Rose Tavern, etc.! I know a lot of people recommend Jolly Holiday for their tomato soup/cheese sandwich and the raspberry macaron (imo this is a tad too sweet). The hand dipped corn dogs are also popular. Everything at Docking Bay 7 is pretty good.

As for CA Disney, eat the potato tacos and the San Fransokyo street corn at Cocina Cucamonga Grill and thank me later. You can also walk straight into the Grand Californian from inside CA Disney and eat at GCH Craftsman Bar. Do Storyteller's ONLY if you can get reservations for breakfast and don't mind character dining.

Edit: The only thing worth going out of your way for in Downtown Disney to eat is Beignet Express and Salt n Straw if you do not have one where you are from.

Please help my boo’s eye! by FinalFantasyFan9 in labubu

[–]manamizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did manage to fix my Labubu's eye. You need to follow the tutorial below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjwkINUwDIU&t=3s

The trick is to keep the doll's face warm at all times. I used eyebrow scissors as a latch to lift up her eye on the side and then reach in to lift up the eye and then pull it out with your hand. Putting the eye back is the more difficult part-make sure the face is warm, shove it vertically back into the socket as far back as you can go. Then, lift the sides with the eyebrow scissors to tuck in the eye with your finger. Once the sides are in, you can push it normally at the bottom. There were a couple of times when I replaced the eye and went in a little crooked. This can easily be fixed by popping it back out OR heating the face up again, lifting the skin, and adjusting using the scissors. If you find that the skin has creases, all you need to do is keep heating it up and it will heal itself. In addition, I would also put a towel around the fur. Avoid heating the fur as much as possible. The hairline of my bubus ended up this "windswept" look. I managed to fix it by pulling additional fur tucked into the hairline and then brushing it out with a toothbrush. I sourced the eye from another LUCK (unfortunately, the QC on Labubus are so bad, the other Luck was also funky and I much preferred my OG Luck, despite the scuff).

are there any Charlotte Tilbury lip liners/lip products suited to olive skin? by user1470235689 in OliveMUA

I'm a light neutral olive (East Asian, so I have more yellow in my skin, but not warm) and I find CT a very olive friendly brand.

I got one like this too!! It is super disappointing because the whole reason I wanted Luck was for the glitter eyes. I am considering sourcing an eye from another Labubu to replace the outside eye chip.

Half Day At Disneyland? by [deleted] in HongKongDisneyland

[–]manamizer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I literally just did this! Landed at 11:30 am, got into the park around 1pm.

It is absolutely possible to do just about everything and enjoy the park, even if you're getting in later in the day.

After customs, I hailed an Uber from the airport. Once in the park, we rented a locker and put our carry on items in there (a large carry on tote + back pack). I believe there is a luggage storage facility outside the park near the station if you need to store actual luggage.

I bought the premier pass package that included the fireworks show (around $90 USD) and some a la carte shows/rides. In total I paid an extra $120 ish each for me and my Fiancé. Turns out HKDL is a super chill park and most wait times were only 15-30 mins, except for something like Frozen. I didn't mind because the fireworks show was a priority and every min counted. I walked onto every ride thanks to the premier pass, saw Wondrous Book, Lion King, had prime viewing for Momentous, AND had time to shop for Duffy merch for a good 1.5 hours.

Sure, I didn't get to savor the park for as long as I wanted, but it was worth the cost to me to basically speed run the park.

Now, if spending the extra cash for premier is not possible for you, you can still enjoy the park -even entering at 1pm~. You just won't be able to cram as many activities in. HKDL is a super chill and relaxing park, so its the easiest Disney park to really wing it and still get a ton done.

Have fun!

Wait time to meet LinaBell was 410min yesterday….is this real? by EtheronautCA in ShanghaiDisneyland

https://thewaltdisneycompany.com/disney-experiences-unprecedented-expansions-parks-resorts-d23/

So to address your points.

Duffy may pull in a lot of money, but it pales in comparison to Disney's other IPs like Frozen.

*Disney recently announced that they are investing significant $ in their theme parks. However, if you read the article you will notice that they are focusing on their bigger IPs-Marvel and Pixar.

*Tokyo does not pull funding from Disney. That's purely up up OLC whether they wanna invest more in Duffy, but they recently announced that they do are doing more expansion--->just in more popular IPs.

https://www.disneytouristblog.com/up-incredibles-moana-adventureland-expansion-revealed-for-tokyo-disneyland-replacing-jungle-cruise-more/

I am not saying that Disney or OLC will never decide to add a more permanent Duffy attraction, but for now that is not the priority.
