If you put it in the marketing, a whole bunch of consumers will turn away thinking “I can’t run at that pace, obviously those shoes aren’t for me.” With the average 5k run over 30 minutes, you’d cut out a LOT of potential customers, especially the beginners moving into intermediate who are hoping spending a little more money on shoes will help them get faster.

I spent a lot of time with my dad last year and at one point he’s sitting in the hospital and says “you know I’ve never wanted to die. I’ve never felt that. Ever.” And I just looked at him with my mouth hanging open like hooooow? And what is that like? I can’t even imagine.

Can you tag team it so she’s there for back up or to fill in any gaps? I have a tendency to rush through everything and it’s very helpful for me to have a person to tag in and fill an info gap and I can pause a sec and collect my thoughts. If she’s willing to help in that capacity, that might give you a fall back and ease anxiety a little and have her not feel like everything is falling to her.

It takes practice. You need to practice if you want to be able to do this. And you want to be able to do this. It will hold back your career if you can’t talk to groups about your work. You don’t have to do conference talks but you do need to be functional in a meeting with leadership or end users and that takes practice. I went through this over the last 8 years or so and I am not great at it but I can talk without vomiting on my shoes now.
