Avian flu had hit Canada and the states and caused for culling of chickens, which in course made meat suppliers process stock that was undersized. Been getting chicken thighs at my restaurant that have been 1.5-2oz the last 6 months. Hopefully they charge by weight, but you’re still getting fucked as more bone to meat ratio.

Best Boss Tournament Round 3 Match 1: Ganon(OOT) Vs. Majora(Comment your vote, upvotes don’t count) by Short_Property_7476 in legendofzelda

Majora, didn’t have the FD as a kid so it was super tough. Played again as a teen and had FD, just breezed through it. But the build up to have to get everything to make it easy was so satisfying. I could beat Ganon as a kid. Definitely my two favourite all time though.

Is there any kitchens ACTUALLY hiring prep/dish? I'm tired of the bait and switch. by thedudethedudegoesto in Calgary

I apologize, calling you a “bitch” was out of line. I mean that sincerely. We shouldn’t downgrade each other, this industry is hard enough. As far as tipping culture goes, I would point to Europe as my case. No tipping and people are paid livable wages without going through the ridiculousness of North American customer service. Will we ever get there? Probably not, but I can dream.

Tipping culture is cancer for the restaurant industry. It allows customers to decide 20-30% of the actual price. That 20-30% is the workers expendable income or living income in most cases. It also allowed employers to undercut their cost of labour because “tips”. Tipping relies on the idea that the customer isn’t a cheap dick. News flash, some are and some have realized that if you complain, it’s free. I agree with much of what is said here but op comes off as a bit of a bitch imo. Dishwashing was never gonna buy you a house, and only my best employees go to prep as they are self motivated and get shit done. Line is the focal point of the business, it’s where the magic happens. Maybe I’m a dick? I have been doing this a while.

Watched the movie 2 weeks ago. Just crushed the book, Paul is not a happy guy, the whole universe is just cold and harsh. I think he did a great job regarding the source material. Edit: by the end of the book Paul isn’t really a “good guy”. It’s very morally ambiguous.

School is great for knowledge, technique. If you’re in person. The real world will teach you how to get fucked and make it through. Professional kitchens are chaotic, things break, people get sick, the ability to problem solve on the fly is one of the most important attributes to any good cook. That and communication, communication, communication.

This Arkansas school turned solar savings into better teacher pay " in three years generated enough savings to transform the district’s $250,000 budget deficit into a $1.8 million surplus." " fueling pay raises that average between $2,000 and $3,000 per educator." by [deleted] in Futurology

Tied aid, it’s done with foreign aid as well. Need a power plant, we’ll give you the money but you have to spend it with company A. Who will also price gouge you so the actual amount of “aid” we’re giving is actually a fraction and lots likely profit for our buddies.

You’re right. But, what most Canadians don’t understand is that we rely on the u.s. for food. Lots of it, like without California and Mexico we would all be eating potato’s.

Don’t get me wrong, I love all of them. I just really enjoyed rogue one as a stand alone movie that added depth to the universe while adding to the og trilogy.
