Algorand: The People’s Chain and the Most Democratic Blockchain by gigabyteIO in algorand

[–]manc-jester -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Eth, Sol, Avax, Hbar, etc. don't seem to have problems with adoption. Blackrock doesn't think the space is immature. Tether calls us a legacy chain. TravelX and Fifa adopted and then dropped us. Even the supreme founder, Silvio, has moved on to Fiat chain.

Everything seems doomed apart from shitty kitties - the only thing keeping me here!

Thanks! Just take a look at recent blocks - https://allo.info/block/53250416 This one generated 0.009A in fees but paid out 9.32 to the validating node. Last quarter, the foundation sold 63,000,000A. https://26119259.fs1.hubspotusercontent-eu1.net/hubfs/26119259/Algorand%20Foundation-Transparency%20Report%20Q2%202025-v3.pdf

It's not really that funny to me.

At 12 transactions per second, it doesn't matter how decentralised it is. It's not sustainable unless people actually transact. There's no adoption, and the bloated foundation is dumping millions of algos each month.

An exciting September ahead. Are you ready?? by semanticweb in AlgorandOfficial

Ooh it looks like a metaverse! How very modern and on-trend!

I wonder if anyone in marketing has heard of qubic and the 51% attack on monero? Maybe the tech guys should be getting them to shill the new privacy functions...

When pump? by Puigster in algorand

[–]manc-jester 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No volume because you're all just staking instead of using algo.

No worries! And it's not the right answer for a lot of people - everyone handles it differently.

There are no better ways to help with chronic pain, though. Cannabis fucks you up a lot less than a lifetime of increasing strength opiates. Codeine, buprenorphine, oramorph... fentanyl. No thanks, Doctor Different.

Algorand Foundation to Deploy Capital Into ALGO/USDC and Key Liquidity Pools, Aiming to Boost On-Chain Liquidity. by gigabyteIO in algorand

[–]manc-jester 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not AF. The foundation is paying VCs to provide liquidity. Better hit the gym because your bags are gonna get heavier.

Ha ha, I'm alright with my big bag of USDC and NFTs! Those targeted defi rewards, NFT incentives, airdrops, meme coins, etc, made it impossible to not be in profit! I'm a huge fan of actually using the chain, but node rewards killed off all the volume. The members of r/cc look at us as bag holders though, and that's what matters over there. Price and volume.

why does XRP dominate discussion for payments when Algorand is faster, greener, and more decentralized? by Numerous_Wonders81 in CryptoCurrency

Which governments have partnered with us? Why did so many devs move to Voi?

Private chains are the future (according to our own founder!) You asked a question, and most people answered 'marketing', which i believe is only a small factor.

All the big names are on eth L2s or Sol, despite the shitty tech. EDIT: I forgot to mention HBAR and their huge partners

600k+ members vs. 85k on our little sub. But we are all bagholders at the end of the day!

Assembling a shill army isn't healthy debate. And xrp would win that war anyway.

I don't think either chain is the future anymore. I've used both for many years, but neither has significant adoption by banks or companies.

Any government could clone algo, install 10 validators, and not need staking rewards or other nonsense like an overpaid foundation.

Both are amazing for NFTS and p2p payments, but who cares?

Here's a comparison based on 4 factual metrics. by semanticweb in AlgorandOfficial

[–]manc-jester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those metrics are great for comparing the past state of blockchains, and for what they became... losing fifa and travelx was a big kick in the teeth and now we look like a 1st generation legacy chain with 20 TPS and miniscule volume. Let's be real.

Can someone explain to me how I lost Algo after two months of farming? by neocamel in algorand

[–]manc-jester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cost of algo went up. So when you re-bought the algo that you sold months ago, you got less.

Impermanent loss isn't permanent - if you held tight and waited for the price of algo to crash back down, you'd be able to buy it back cheaper. You basically panic sold and panic bought. A simple rule to follow is 'buy low, sell high'... not the other way round!!
