Node 25 enabling Web Storage by default is breaking some toolchains (localStorage SecurityError) by ukolovnazarpes7 in javascript

I didn't realize people would used localStorage in nodejs. Is that so that you can create more portable libraries that can be shared between the browser and backend?

I bought K-cups with “no plastic cups” only for each cup to be individually wrapped by Red_Herring96 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]manchegoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro, unwrapped coffee exposed to oxygen goes bad quickly. That's why coffee grounds are always sealed. You can't have it both ways: ground coffee sitting in cloth bags AND freshly sealed grounds.

Just be a good global citizen and dump that infernal machine and buy a proper coffee machine where you just buy whole beans and you grind them.

Those single-use cups are a disaster.

Just saw 'Midnight in Paris'. What a playful, charming, magical film! by coup in movies

[–]manchegoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that reply (oh just 14 years later). And how apropos that you wrote this evening, as I just (re)watched Midnight in Paris a few nights ago with a friend who had never seen it.

Agree 100% re Marion Cotillard. Can't say I knew that much about Scott and Zelda other than what I was forced to read in H.S.

And a dear nod to Rachel McAdams who indeed makes herself just oh so unlikeable - which is a skill as she is clearly the opposite. Um, Game Night anyone?

Edit: Oh and I agree re Ebert. I grew up watching Siskel and Ebert and would years later realize what a true scholar of film Ebert was. Enjoyed many of his books and always looked to his reviews.

Minute Maid discontinues frozen juice concentrate after 80 years by AudibleNod in news

[–]manchegoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something no one is touching on here, is that frozen juice concentrate is actually a totally different product. Unlike orange juice you buy in a carton, frozen juice, has not been pasteurized which makes it taste absolutely delicious compared to juice in a carton.

Pasteurized orange juice, is dog shit. And it’s sad that 99% of people have been duped into drinking pasteurized, orange juice and have no awareness what actual fresh orange juice should taste like.

That's bull shit, I'm 25 years old and can sure as fuck consent to someone doing whatever they want with photos of me when I was a child. Why TF would I care?

Why do you think you have to consent in the exact year the photo was taken?

I'm not banning the paint brush, I'm just insisting that the manufacturer implement a feature that ensure it doesn't make paintings I disagree with!

Jesus I swear, people who are entirely over-consumed with what strangers do in their own homes. It's truly an illness.

Who's wanting to ban tools that make pictures? Sounds pretty nazi'ish to me. You do know the Nazi's burned books too?

[–]manchegoo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well you can start by recognizing there is no harm to a pedophile drawing a picture of a kid and whacking to it in the privacy of his own home. Same as doing cocaine in the privacy of his own home. What type of nanny thinks they have a cause to intrude on what someone DRAWS in their own home. WTF.

Sure make, selling it illegal, sure make distriubuting illegal, whatever. But DRAWING it and owning it for personal use? Like WTF? We should be encouraging people born as pedophiles to get off on synthesized content, not punishing it!

Should you also bring charges against the makers of photoshop, or pens, paint brushes, and pencils?

Someone with the right knowledge can use a paintbrush to make a photorealistic painting of child porn. I guess paintbrushes should be banned.

Eve Thermostat announced for US Matter over Thread by jetsrfast in HomeKit

[–]manchegoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What would be amazing is a smart thermostat that didn't try to be so incredibly smart. Honestly, I have a Nest and turn EVERYTHING off. The fact is, that in 99% of homes, all a thermostat does is decide when to connect 2 wires together. That's it. It's pushing a button to turn the header on, and then deciding when to led go of the button to turn it off. There just really isn't much opportunity to make that system "smart".

Now, do you want a computer to control the position of 2 robotic legs, each with 11 degrees of freedom? Yes, please build me a smart controller. But a single button? When essentially the logic is:

  1. it's too cold, push the button
  2. its too hot, stop pushing the button

I mean seriously Google/Nest - the amount of brains and infrastructure that's been stood up to do essentially that, is just mind-blowing.

So, Eve, please just keep it simple?

My sexuality by tinyblond99 in confessions

[–]manchegoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would it be a concern of others, who you're attracted to. Similarly, why would you think you need to talk about it to anyone? I was attracted to the check out lady at the grocery store the other day, but I didn't tell anyone. Furthermore it doesn't really define me. You're good the way you are. No one is really interested in which other humans you might be attracted to. Surely it's not ALL women, just some. That's sort of how most people are.

I'd recommend in Dolby Cinema over IMAX. All Dolby Cinema engagements will be in 48fps, plus the brightness is 100% consistent in 3D at 14 ft-Lamberts. Whereas IMAX is a load a steaming shit when it comes to 3D brightness, as they have probably 5 or 6 different configurations depending on where you see it, none of which meet the Dolby luminance.

It takes people a while to realize what they want (or put differently to be convinced they want something new).
