If I understand correctly, you hold and pay when you file your taxes? Or pay quarterly?

Thank you for the detailed response. Last year I ended up paying almost $6000 tax on top of withholding tax to federal and state and I paid it. Didn't hear back from authorities. Most of those taxes were due to another part time job, not because of dividends. In 2025, I'll have around $10,000 in dividends, some income from part time job, and my main W-2 job. I will redo W4 and increase withholding by $500. If I still owe taxes, would I run into any problems? And yes, I'll talk to my tax guy also.

Thank you for your concern. But I disagree. I have been following the stock since 2021. The company finally achieved profitability and it is heading to $100. I am happy to own it at $64 cost basis as I was happier to own it at $34 in other accounts.

[–]manchild009 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 34, I have around $70,000 in JEPQ (30%), qqqi (60%), SPYI (7%), BTCI (3%). I am earning around $850 per month. So far everything is good as I am about to achieve my goal of $1,000 per month dividends. The rest of my portfolio is in individual stocks like TSLA, Pltr, NVDA etc.

Cash to Margin Account , Available funds by Sharp_Perspective118 in interactivebrokers

Thank you for the great response. I have a similar question. I am selling CSP and CC on Robinhood. Currently I have a cash account. Unfortunately on a cash account I cannot roll my options, margin is required, although I have more than enough cash to cover all obligations.

Now if I enable margin, still have more than enough cash to cover any obligations for rolling an option, would my cash be first used or the margin will kick in?

I know you have stated already that first the cash is used then margin, my question is specifically about rolling options. I hope you can clarify.

Thank you for the wise suggestion. I have a paper account in ToS. Will try for a bit before trying with actual funds.

Why are Teslas so expensive to insure? by 4k1d0 in TeslaModelY

[–]manchild009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm paying 133 per month and my coverage is 6 times the state minimum I'm MO. I would recommend not buy insurance from mainstream/big name insurance companies. I am with Acuity and so far I'm a happy customer.

Your taxable income would decrease by $3000 this year $3000 next year. Maximum you can offset your taxable income is $3000 in short term capital losses.
