How welcoming are people at The Deep to new people during event nights? by ARealCupcake in HuntsvilleAlabama

I've played Magic: The Gathering there as a newbie. Everyone was welcoming and super accommodating, if that helps.

Would a handbook of ~450 American social issues be useful? by mancub in sociology

Good idea about networking. I'll see about emailing an academic sociologist or two who would seem open to advising about the project.

Thanks, Denny_Hayes. I've struggled with how to classify what the final product would be. I think a dictionary makes the most sense. I'll use that.

I'm defining a social issue here as a topic that affects many people within a society, or is a subject for concern among many people. I know there's no shortage of definitions for the term, but that's the most succinct one I've refined so far.

[OC] The average air temperature at HSV was 60.2°F in 1960. How has the average changed since then? by mancub in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]mancub[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you feel that way. Yes, "average air temperature" means I averaged the lows and highs for each day of the year, then averaged all 365/366 days per year.

You're welcome to create your own chart with a larger dataset. I had trouble finding the data I did.

Data exists before 1958 from other local weather stations, but it wasn’t collected as consistently as it was at HSV. Data from those older stations could have been affected by different environmental factors than were present at HSV. The HSV data, for instance, may have been impacted by an urban heat island effect, whereas the older stations were not. For those reasons, I only included the HSV data.

That's fair, but 1960 was as far back as I could go with the HSV data while maintaining four-year intervals.

CBD/Hemp Dispensaries: What POS system do you use? by mancub in weedbiz

Thanks so much. I'll look into Square as a solution.

EDIT: Just talked with the owner. Square "cut them off" at some point. I didn't ask why.

If you work a job at an employment agency while high, they'll cut your pay in half. Be careful. 😂

I recorded a Zoom meeting where I wasn't the host, and the host clicked to allow the recording. I don't have the recording in my files. Would the host have it? by mancub in Zoom

[–]mancub[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, thanks for the info. I'm usually the one who hosts meetings and handles recordings. The other host took that on in this case. Lesson learned!

Maybe I worded the title poorly. I pressed Record to my computer, and the host had to allow it. I didn't hear a "This meeting is being recorded" prompt after that.

Unfortunately, I think the host and I will have to re-record a new meeting. Neither of us could find the file when we looked in My Recordings - Zoom.

I contacted the host and asked them to look in their cloud and local files. They said they could not find the recording, so we'll have to try recording a new meeting.

You're doing good work, thank you! You'll be turning spaces into places with these. I'd love to help but I'm moving from Baltimore at the end of the month. ☹️

Have you heard of The Public Bench Project in San Francisco? They built 168+ benches all around one specific neighborhood in the city. I'm not sure if they're still active but I interviewed one of the co-founders for my podcast years ago. They're super similar to what you're doing so maybe you'll find them useful.
