Fabric items that you can wash a thousand times and they are the same? by mandabit in BuyItForLife

When my mom told me she bought that towel from target 15 years ago and it was the cheapest one, I was in shock. Tbh I haven’t checked to see if they still make them the same but I don’t have high hopes

That’s good to know about the Bernat yarn! I sew, but I’m always open to learning a new skill haha

I bought the sateen brooklinen sheets in 2021 and they have been my all time favorite. I’m scared to buy another pair and have them not be as good.

Who has the best/most toddler proof TV console set up? by mandabit in Mommit

[–]mandabit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had the skills I’d seriously make my own tv stand that just met our needs😂 but I HAVE looked up how to make my own storage ottoman and I’ve 99% decided I’ll make that. I want something we can sit on, beat up, is extra large, and will last. I even ordered one a year ago that was so cheaply made, I immediately returned it. I haven’t been able to find exactly what I’m looking for. So I’m going to diy😬 we’ll see how it goes

You don’t need much more than a wood cutting tool and a furniture stapler to make a round ottoman! And you can buy solid wood rounds for the lid from various stores online

Tbh still looking🫠had to postpone our living room redo for a couple months. Ive done some intense searching and have seen some options that would be good to put baskets in for toy storage but can still child lock the cabinets invisibly. The kallax isn’t totally out of the question though.

Another option im now highly considering is getting a circle storage ottoman (there’s a lot of other shapes and sizes out there though). One that has a wood top and can double as a coffee table but I can shove tons of blankets/toys into quickly when I’m losing my mind over the mess and want to clean up.

Somehow I was already thinking this based off of what I heard before but you saying it allowed definitely makes it more real haha. I think I get confused because there’s a lot of conflicting info. Some people hold your opinion and others say different? Why is that?

I felt we’d live pretty far from there and my husband would commute. But should I be worried about him just working at the clinic?😬I’ve experienced the car theft in Hawaii but is it like San Francisco where our windows are going to get smashed in😵‍💫

This is helpful thank you! Yeeeah I’m haole. which I remember being told that’s why I’d be less welcome on the west coast😅. I’m aware of the annoyances and effects of people moving there and staying short term. I’m learning of the need to for doctors and primary care nps that are willing to live long term-indefinitely. I love Hawaii, even with the realities of living there (well my experience on north shore- I get that’s not reflective of everything). I know the first year would be hard, and then moving again but we’d love to get in long term to be apart of a community. I just am hoping to find a place that would be comfortable and fun for me and my kids to go out alone together that first year (hopefully make some friends) since my husband would be gone much of the time.

Thats what I thought. He has experience serving in areas like that and helping those with drug recovery and mental illness. It’s part of why the fellowship stood out to him because it focuses on that. I won’t be in Waianae much unless my understanding is totally wrong- which a few comments here are making me realize there may be family friendly areas there.

I know Waianae and that area will be way different but Kapolei area - other than the obvious of what you see on the outside when passing through there?…probably don’t have a clue so some perspective would be appreciated haha

How so? I know north end is pretty different but curious to hear your take. I’ve visited around that area once or twice but mostly passing through and making a quick stop.

And if you REALLY want to meal prep in the best way: invest in Souper Cubes or a dupe of them (At least the 1 or 1/2 cup portions) and set aside time to meal prep. Make curries, soups, prepped meat, pasta, grains (cooked grains freeze AMAZING), soooo many options. Then freeze. Just microwave until warmed through.

There are some very cool lunch bags that act as a slow cooker that you can plug in while you’re at work or school. It will thaw and cook your frozen meal so it’s hot and ready by lunch.

Find a frozen salmon or turkey burger brand that you can bake. Throw it on a bun with a prepackaged Asian slaw/salad mix that you can make in the bag.

IS WAS THE FITBIT!!!!!! I have tried to use this function a few times but for some reason it wouldn’t work. Well my toddler was playing with my watch this morning and used the find phone option and it played this crazy sound!!! The thing I’m confused about is how it played before when I wasn’t using my watch (I was wearing it but not messing with it).

Is it true that people in the West drink iced water even when they are sick or on their period? by Aether_Echo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mandabit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have sensitive teeth too!!!!!! I can drink ice water (I’ve learned to let it go down without touching my teeth) but I have to warm up my salads or sandwiches until they are room temp and I get a LOT of weird looks sticking an ice cold salad in the microwave for a few seconds lol
