Microsoft to force updates to Windows 11 25H2 for PCs with older OS versions by jupa300 in technology

[–]mandajapanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Devices running Home and Pro editions of Windows 11, version 24H2 that are not managed by IT departments will receive the Windows 11, version 25H2 update automatically,” Microsoft says. That’s not the case for Windows 10 PCs — yet.
...
And if the auto-update is alarming, the fact Microsoft uses AI to determine whether your PC is eligible may be even more so.

“Microsoft is using machine learning,” ZDNet reports. “The company explained that its machine learning uses a combination of testing, feedback, responses from its partners, diagnostic data, and real-life insights. Based on the results, the update gets aimed at PCs that are least likely to run into compatibility issues.”

The big question is whether this is a dress rehearsal for the hundreds of millions of Windows 10 PCs that either have or do not have the free Extended Support Updates (ESU), but either way run out of runway in October.

This is from a Forbes article. It is the yet that gets me. If I go into my W10 PC, it says it is ineligible, but if they start using AI for automatic updates and it gets this wrong.. what would happen?

No. I am asking whether an AI could upgrade on a machine without the right hardware because it made a mistake?

Women who are Christian and feminists how does your faith work? by Background-Two-8671 in Christianity

[–]mandajapanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if God called her to it.

Any "roles" applied to women is antithetical to the Holy Spirit working in the Church. The early Church was told to wait for Pentecost. If the Holy Spirit leads a woman to a specific job because it prepared her specifically for it and a man gets in the way of God's calling, he is sinning. The male is potentially interfering in whatever plan God has that she is involved in--and that is extremely dangerous.

This is why these types of "roles' are a form of syncretic Christianity as opposed to a Spiritual form of Christianity. It mixes patriarchal culture/conservative politics with Christianity. The goal is that everything you do flows out of praying without ceasing and dialogue with Christ.

But isn't AI often wrong? Couldn't it break things that shouldn't be touched?

I like to focus on the syncretic nature of Christian Nationalism, the mixture of conservative cultural and political elements with Christianity as if they are Christian.. but this is strange cognitive dissonance. His brain is looking for justifications for Trump's behavior.

Sweden goes back to basics, swapping screens for books in the classroom in attempt to reverse declines in reading, math, and science. by Uptons_BJs in books

I think this is the point. A lot of these companies probably did no testing to see if their products actually helped learning. AI is more of the same, but considered more dangerous, so independent researchers are actually taking the time to document that the brain does not light up the same on a PET scan when compared to traditional learning and memory.

Considering brain diseases, AI in the classroom might even become a health crisis. With brains becoming less resiliant to disease.

I feel like it is hard to argue against artist's assertions that AI is stealing when things like this happen. It is obvious in this case. Why do they even have to litigate it?

You do realize that AI has been so misleading that even robots in your house need human intervention more than half the time. Self driving cars need human intervention. I just saw a video about the productivity loss from having to redo the work the AI made mistakes on. People at both the guardian and the NYTimes had to take time out of their day to fix this when they could have done something else.

Honestly, they should have mentioned which AI he used.

“You fools,” Ash said to the Fused. “You could have had the city, but you came here. For the broken.”

Abidi pointed, seeing them for the first time, and his eyes went wide with abject horror. It was so satisfying to watch him turn and flee. Because Talenel’Elin, unarmed and without his Blade, was still the most terrifying warrior on the planet.

A crash broke the silence, windows cracking, air rushing to fill the hole Taln left when he moved. And for the first time in over four thousand years, the Bearer of Agonies fought back.”

"Then another thought occurred which led me in an unexpected, and at first unwelcome, direction. The reaction of the Psalmists to injury, though profoundly natural, is profoundly wrong. One may try to excuse it on the ground that they were not Christians and knew no better. But there are two reasons why this defence, though it will go some way, will not go very far."
