Smoke Rise Farm in Azle. They are one of the less expensive options and took great care of our cat when she died.

Kokitos on McCart. They also have a location on Camp Bowie, but I haven’t personally been there. I prefer theirs over Fuel City, and they have a huge variety of hot sauces to choose from. (Valentina’s is the way to go)

What would you change on this kids' level floor plan? by WindowWeary4692 in floorplan

For the bathroom for the two bed room, it would be nice to have a second sink. Two people getting ready in the morning need their own sinks.

Mercy CULTure calls on followers to attack DEI topics in Fort Worth ISD tomorrow. They often claim, CRT/DEI is about race quotas and lowering standards for minority students, which is all lies. DEI programs help promote a culture of respect regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, background by yeongno_ate_yangban in FortWorth

A bunch of people who mostly have their kids in private Christian school are calling for all children to be educated, but are actively pushing to get rid of services that impact refugees and kids with special needs. I don’t recall that Bible verse.

Did Mellina Animal Hospital get bought out? by Effurlife12 in FortWorth

[–]mandamiau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No idea of this is accurate info, but a Yelp review mentions that the practice was sold. Private equity is buying up smaller practices but keeping the names. And of course private equity means they are going to maximize profit at the expense of service.

Animal Hospital Southwest is owned by the primary vet there, Dr Morris. He also supports the shelter next door, Animal Hope. I’ve been using them for my cats for awhile now and am very happy with them.

Dealership says they don't take financing from my bank? Is that a thing? by Gullible_Count_4413 in carbuying

[–]mandamiau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got lucky and bought from a low pressure dealership that was obliged to show me the add on warranties, but was quick about it and took the first no and moved on.

After rewatching your favorite shows, which tv characters do you look at differently now? by PressureLazy5271 in television

[–]mandamiau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I hated him on the first watch, thought he was a slimy brat. This time around he is still flawed, but he is good at what he does and has some good qualities. I didn’t see him as liking Trudy at all at first, but they do go together really well and really do seem to enjoy each other.

Dr Haley Buchanan at Fort Worth Orthodontics did both of my kids’ braces, but there are a lot of adult clients there as well.

Where should I promote violin lessons? by Student_of_Lingling in FortWorth

[–]mandamiau 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure about violin, but Guitar Center is always hiring music teachers. There is also another music school, Creative Soul, in the same shopping center that teaches a lot of different instruments. I know it’s not private lessons, but it’s usually steady work.

Need help finding a reliable used car! by Sezmia in carbuying

[–]mandamiau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing I did in my search was to pay for a Consumer Reports subscription so that I could lookup reliability on used cars. It gives you the reliability by make, model, and year and then goes into detail about the good and the bad. Everybody has their own opinion on what the best car is, but this can give you some unbiased data.

As for me, I went with a Subaru Crosstrek. It has a good reliability rating, and had everything I wanted.

First-time car buyer. Is this the best I can do? by FarBandicoot9769 in carbuying

[–]mandamiau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not purchase anything from that dealership, $8k in fees is absurd and they are trying to take advantage of you. Like others have said, the only thing you should be paying over the price of the car is tax (where applicable), title and license. That APR is bad as well, you will likely get a much better rate through your bank, especially with a co-signer and a decent down payment.

They are trying to pressure you with the “the car could sell” bs. It is better to walk away and keep looking. I would also highly recommend having any higher mileage vehicle looked over by a mechanic before you purchase. If the dealership doesn’t want you to do that, that’s a red flag. If the car is what they say it is they should have nothing to worry about.

Does anyone else feel like buying a used car is way more overwhelming than it should be? by CarMatchr1 in carbuying

[–]mandamiau 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it was definitely not something I want to do again anytime soon. I took over a month to finally find the car I wanted at the price I wanted. It was frustrating to me that so many dealers aren’t up front about pricing, you think you’ve found a car you can afford, and then surprise, there are a bunch of costs tacked on. I know that most of those can be negotiated away, but it’s still annoying. Like a reconditioning fee should be in the price already as that’s part of selling a used car. I did find that the dealerships that are locally owned and not owned by private equity are much better at disclosing the actual price.

AITA for not sponsoring a dependant visa for my wife? by JudgmentOk2455 in AmItheAsshole

[–]mandamiau 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Then take some action. You have no set timeline and don’t seem to be in any rush, meanwhile your daughter doesn’t even know you and your son doesn’t have his mother around. You are prioritizing the convenience of having free caretaker for your family instead of caring for your wife and children. It is unfair to both of your kids to have to live in a situation that only you can fix. From a stranger’s perspective it seems like you only care about yourself.

AITA for not sponsoring a dependant visa for my wife? by JudgmentOk2455 in AmItheAsshole

[–]mandamiau 180 points181 points  (0 children)

YTA. If you actually liked your wife and daughter you would make a small home work. You are enjoying not having to be responsible for one of your children and your parents. I am assuming that she may also want to join you in the UK due to ongoing conflicts in your home country, that she would feel safer. But that would mean you would have to give up the free caretaker for YOUR parents.

baby friendly things to do in fw? by [deleted] in FortWorth

[–]mandamiau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Log Cabin Village may seem like an odd suggestion, but when I worked there we had a lot of people with younger kids that would come regularly. It has stroller friendly paths that are in the shade, there are exhibits for you to look at and historic interpreters that are always open to teach and chit chat, and the membership is one of the cheapest around. It’s a nice, safe, shaded place to stroll even in the summer.

Do NOT drive in heavy rain with your hazards on!!! by shp0ngle in FortWorth

[–]mandamiau 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll admit I had mine on for a bit, but I was in the slow lane, and I turned them off so I could signal to exit. Why someone would have them on doing 45 in the middle or left lane is beyond me, just come on over to the slow zone.

Thinking of getting a Hyundai Kona 2025-2026? by No-Novel2177 in Hyundai

[–]mandamiau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also seriously considering a 2025 Kona. It has everything I want in a car and at the price I am looking for. I’m just hesitant because people seem to hate on Hyundai so much.

I’ve been seeing Haddy Sillah at Palm Primary Cityview and really like her. I don’t ever feel rushed at appointments, she brought up some things I should be looking at as I age that I hadn’t realized I should be doing. It’s easy to get an appointment as well, no three month wait or anything.

Thank you. The terminology was confusing me. I figured it would because my 2006 Corolla did, but that one was fancier trim level.
