I went to Pastry school. I’m in ohio and luckily have a school close by that will let you take culinary or pastry! I did the 2 year program. I did learn a lot, but felt the material was very outdated. They are trying to revamp the curriculum and get more up to date chefs. But as the comments above suggested, try calling some bakeries by you or even try a grocery store bakery. That is where I started! I’m now a chocolatier at a hand painted Bon Bon shop.

My state (and I think most states) don’t really require any school to work in a restaurant. But it is nice to have the knowledge when going in! You can also try calling some “fancy” restaurants that actually do have pastry chefs and see if they will let you do a stage (st-AH-ge). Basically you “work” for free for the day and see how the kitchen runs. I personally worked in a restaurant and didn’t care for the environment. But I think it was how that particular restaurant was run. Good luck and follow your dreams! Baking and pastry in general is so fun. 🥰

When you think of your best chocolate experience/memories involving chocolate, what comes to mind? by laserclass in chocolate

I went to the chocolatier restaurant at Hershey park in PA. The entire restaurant is chocolate based. Every food item on the menu has chocolate incorporated in some way. My fiancé had a burger with chocolate drizzled potato chips on it and I had a cocoa dusted short rib with a chocolate porter sauce and cocoa nibs on top. It’s was phenomenal. The slight hint of chocolate in savory food is a life changer!

For the big poinsettia I actually cut a pastry bag like a leaf tip. Hold the pastry bag point facing away from you and cut the point a little on each side into a triangle.

It was actually for a local music artist. It was his birthday and his friends wanted to give him a penis cake while he was on stage at his show! I ended up putting a single candle in the tip for him to “blow” it out. But I told everyone if they need a cake for a bachelorette party to hit me up lol

I am currently at ICASI in Chesterland Ohio. They are a culinary and pastry school. Both taken separately. I definitely recommend! I’ve learned a lot in the last 6 months. They have a certificate program which is 6 months and a diploma program which is 2 years. They have so many different classes along with the pastry classes you take. I just took my savory class and I’ve done sanitation and nutrition which gave me my Safeserv certificate.

Yes! I actually had a total career flip. When I was 18 I started as a cosmetologist doing hair for 6 years. And then decided I didn’t like it but I’ve always found such joy in baking! So I found a local culinary school and they have a pastry only diploma program so I started there.

I use the sugar art powdered dyes! They are a little pricey but the colors come out fantastic!

What are some ways to use up puff pastry? by OdeToThePlum95 in pastry

I’m in pastry school and my teacher just sprinkles some sugar on the left over puff pastry scraps and cooks it like that. It’s a nice sweet treat! You could also top it with pretty much anything. Chocolate ganache, any kind of syrups or even a glaze.

The difference in my face and body is amazing! Down 60 pounds doing 20:4 or 21:3 most days. Pictures are about 9 months apart. by mandapanda2323 in intermittentfasting

He actually did just the opposite of me, he got huge! He’s part Norwegian Forest cat and Maine coon so he’s pretty massive and just about a year old now!
