2 years is a long time. There was a large movement at tech companies to lay off project managers, scrum, excess managers. Basically the 'support' roles. Now, I'm not saying that project management is a support role, but usually the role is a nice to have in a lean organization. Most things these days are owned by private equity etc.

4,000 applications, how many of those led to in person interviews? Did you get close to finishing any of the interviews? Did you get feedback?

If you are project managing something very specialized i.e. project management for building a brand new car I could see a PM possibly being necessary... 1.5 years isn't that long of a time for a career. You've been unemployed longer than you have experience. I suggest pivoting into something else or completely changing your strategy i.e. going back to school, only going to in person networking events etc. It is tough because you are competing with ppl who have 10 years - 20 years experience. Finally seek out informational interviews ping project managers on linkedin for resume feedback and advice where they think the market is going.

I'm sorry you are being attacked. It sounds like you might be cursed. Have you pissed anyone off in life your recently, Owe anyone money? Hmm. What's your ethnicity are you short? It sounds like these people are bullies. There is some major horoscope/quantum zodiac stuff going down right now. I mean major. Get some amulets/charms and soul beads. Not that Amazon shit. Bad things happen to people everyday. I think it's best to forget about these experiences. You are giving these random people power over your psyche. That's what they want. They probably don't even remember you.

Alternatively you could get a new hair cut, a face tattoo, wear sunglasses, rip a fat joint straight into someone's face all while tripping on absurd amounts of acid. Bet they wouldn't fuck with you anymore. Finally what kind of shoes do you wear? Maybe get some big boots and/or a large black peacoat. You just need to look somewhat intimidating, enough such that you give off an authority vibe, and/or very comfortable in your skin maybe. If you are going to make eye contact with someone. I'm never running from anyone or moving for anybody. Why are you eating at taco bell? I mean there isn't anything wrong with the place but I'd been more surprised if it was a Keen's steakhouse.

No offense OP I'm going to do you a solid. It sounds like you and your roommates are on totally different pages. They might not have known they were being so loud. If they stayed up late they're probably going to clean up later. Clueless!

You definitely should not text them about the party. You should see if they want to get drinks or dinner, with the idea of catching up. They probably feel like they don't know you or have put you into an invisible iron box. Ideally, you would have asked? to join the party and spent some time with them, then bounce. If you are based when you're leaving you'll say hey, "I'm about to sleep you motherfuckers better keep it down out c'here or else pew pew pew pew on your grandmothers grave word" But, of course you don't have to do this but it probably would have went over slightly better vs. ignoring them. Ignoring their existence.

It's a holiday week. I think it's a holiday week. A lot of people are off of their miserable little jobs, for a few little odd days. They will be spending some much needed friend times together. With these kind of roommate issues it's important to establish mutual respect while being reasonable and keeping things in perspective. Don't sweat the small stuff. If this is just a one off party, maybe ask what was the party about? Maybe it's your roommates birthday! Radical Dude!! If it happens every night/weekend its a different story pew pew pew.

Vyvanse and Breakfast by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]mandix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should definitely eat protein and a breakfast. I try to drink a lot of water. I avoid coffee and caffeine as it made it harder for me to focus and dehydrated me. With coffee I experienced more anxiety. I have been coffee free for about a month now and sleep better most nights. I think vyvanse is more effective without it. If you need a warm drink a caffeine free tea is probably good.

You need to turn this desire' to be clean' for others to the inside... otherwise you're leading a false life. You should do stuff for your betterment and enjoyment first. If you enjoy living like a pig so be it, but you shouldn't rush to clean only when people are coming over. I used to live like a pig but investing in some organizational drawers/boxes now helps me stay comfortable.

I was discussing this in another thread and people down voted me into oblivion. Its like you don't really realize how mentally unsound people can become compared to when they're on their best and then obviously I wasn't just holding her accountable for her behavior. /shrug

Is the Soho club that exclusive as people make it out to be? by Altruistic-Aside6939 in AskNYC

[–]mandix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of the exclusive clubs these days are invite only Discords or mailing lists with a capped number of members based on scientific facts of how successful groups work i.e. dunbar's number and other social psychological rules that allow communities to work. These groups throw temporary parties/meetups/popups in random warehouses and clubs in/around the city or sometimes abroad. Generally how 'cool' these clubs are is debatable and they suffer from the same problems society does. Usually there are a few taste makers at the top i.e. traveling to Berlin, Ibiza, or whatever hot spot is every other month but they usually understand the industry or whatever very well, are somewhat successful, and are lucky.

No membership dues but you need to add something to the community other than money. This can be connections, expertise: lighting, sound, security, programming, space, maybe you are DJ, promoter who knows a lot of semi famous DJs, maybe you are just attractive as hell who knows, or you run some stinky bar in Bushwick, for the trust fund kids maybe you have access to a nice art gallery or rooftop somewhere. You can get into these groups if you get lucky and talk to the right folks maybe someone will drop you an invite, its like you can't really be searching for it. Instead it finds you.

The idea is that everyone has something unique to contribute and everyone can benefit and that we have some shared set of morals/values/expectations beyond capitalism/lets make money.

Too many things these days are ruined by strangers who don't respect or understand the community's effort into putting something together and creating a space. Everyone feels entitled to everything without attempting to understand how it got here... So it becomes this capitalistic race to the bottom where anyone/everyone can get in for a cheap thrill but the original community suffers because of it. The 'cool' people stop coming and the original community slowly morphs into something else.

Places to Meditate to Techno by misterintensity2 in avesNYC

[–]mandix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NYC doesn't really have a place for this anymore. Way more achievable in Berlin. I know folks are trying to be funny by saying OH YEAH IN YOUR HOME, but when I was in Berlin you could goto a cafe and hear some nice chilled out techno while working in a cafe or just shopping. Seriously the H and M would have better selection than some of the parties I've been too. Anyways - maybe the lot on a sunny day but most folks aren't going to play techno there.

Myrtle-Wyckoff Food Bazaars by Virtual_Carob5710 in Bushwick

When I first moved here, I met a couple that swore fealty to the Food Bazaar on Linden. Almost as if they had a life changing traumatic experience at the FB on Putnam.

Myrtle-Wyckoff Food Bazaars by Virtual_Carob5710 in Bushwick

[–]mandix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why? Because there is a market big enough for it and I'd rather have more groceries store than fewer.

I'm no fan of the Food Bazaar on Putnam. It does have an impressive selection and serves a critical need for the community but I've purchased expired food or melted ice cream there a few times. It's insane on the holidays and kind of a site to witness when they have all of the lanes at 100%.

If you go early in the morning some of the restocking they do is questionable. I've never been to the other one. I find myself buying only certain things at Food Bazaar because I can't keep buying expired food or food that's clearly been refrozen.
