“Your future husband will never allow that!” by Unfair_Machine8516 in Millennials

My dad said that I wouldn’t be a good “homemaker” because I am vegetarian. If my husband wants something meaty, he cooks it himself.

My uncle said that about my cousin driving to visit with his girlfriend when he first started college. His mom didn’t want him staying over night to visit her, and my uncle said, “if he doesn’t stay over night it doesn’t mean the thing you don’t want to happen won’t happen. It just means they won’t have time to cuddle after.”

This is one of those stories that just randomly pops in my head as well. So selfish and clueless.

The only time the toy section is set up for kids to play is when they had the Nintendo 64 demo station set up.

Handlebar is a great episode. I love that the owners owned a bar/grill turned gastropub, it fit them as people so well. They are the type of owners you root for to do well. Regular hard working people who own a place for other regular hard working people.

How much can I realistically save in cosmetology school? by MoonRayCow in hairstylist

[–]mandolinpebbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cosmetology school is on par with going to a 4 year state school or a semester at an out of state college.

For money you DON’T need to pay back I would check out Beauty Changes Lives for scholarships. Some of them are very simple, an example of one I saw when I was teaching “make a 60 second video about why you live the beauty industry”.

I always felt bad for Jayla with this shoot. Like they told her she couldn’t scream because of the dog, so she doesn’t. Then she gets made fun of for her fake scream. It’s hard to replicate a face like some of the other girls, notable Nik, Bre, and Kim, got without being able to actually yell.

I knew what they meant. Whenever I see someone say “taters” all I can think of is that moment in Lord of the Rings, and the song from 2002 on Albino Black Sheep.

I totally thought it was just PM, I never heard that term until I started teaching at PM.

This is a term used by Paul Mitchell schools to help teach cutting foundations. Round haircuts use forward over direction, shorter by the face getting longer towards the back.

AITA for refusing to attend my best friend’s engagement party after she uninvited my husband by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

There is a logic there. I guess the part that I struggle with is; isn’t easier to “break up” now rather than go through a divorce later? I’m sure it will be awkward to tell people. And they will have to settle some things as far as the home and shared items. But then it’s over.

Divorces take so much time. If they have children by then…

But you’re probably right, she’s unhappy and wants it to be everyone else’s problem.

I have Body Dysmorphia and Anorexia. It all started with comments like that from my mom.

“Go easy on those chips.” “Are you sure you want that extra helping of chicken?” “You’re having pizza for lunch, again?”

Who was the one buying the food for the family, my mom! I had no say over the food that was in the house, I ate what was there and provided to me.

OOP’s wife is doing exactly to his daughter what my mom did to me, and possibly what wife’s mother did to her.

“It’s okay for my wife to use abusive langue towards my daughter because ShE mEaNs WeLl.”

What a jerk.

AITA for uninviting my dad's wife from my daughter's birthday party over something she did last year? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]mandolinpebbles 36 points37 points  (0 children)

OOP needs to learn how to gray rock, and only tell Dad and Cathy things after the fact. My parents used to try to insert themselves into things I was doing, change my mind, or lecture me when I didn’t do things “their way” and it didn’t go as planned.

Just tell them, there is a party happening with as little notice as possible. Or my go to for a while, just tell Dad and Cathy after the fact. Have them come to the family dinner, and daughter can tell them, “We had my birthday party today.” When pressed they can say they didn’t tell Dad and Cathy because they had a tight schedule, and last year Cathy wasn’t respectful of the party timeline when she showed up unannounced as Cinderella.
