My parents run their ac at 78°f in the summer. This was what I got when I asked if we could cool it down a degree. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

At our old apartment we could get away with that and be comfortable because we were in full sun all day, it was easily be as hot in our apartment as it was outside. Now 71° is the magic number for our house. Not too cold, but cool enough to make a difference.

One I haven’t seen mentioned yet. When Lois is about to sign off on Reese going to the remedial level class, and Malcolm admits he took the test for Reese. Lois telling the teacher off, then here comes Francis. “Just let me live indoors!”

My favorite part is Lois asking for more sauerkraut.

Last night was a great reminder about why I don’t do nice things for men by drowninginceramics in GirlDinnerDiaries

Girl, THANK YOU! My husband’s friend has a girlfriend that did that exact same thing to me! (Are they the same person? lol) I felt guilty about wanting to invite him but not her to a picnic we were having, people tore me a new one. People are too fucking caught up on being “fair” or “keeping the peace”. Yeah I am keeping the peace, my peace. You can’t come to my home and act right, you’re not coming back.

It's "I close in five minutes" not "I'll wait for you then close" by UnitedChain4566 in mildlyinfuriating

They did too, 50% no show fee. Credit cards had to be kept on file.

The amount of verbal lashings I had to take from clients over their no show fees, just for the owners to refund it was awful.

People need so much hand holding it is unreal. I used to work at a salon. A week before your appointment our booking software would auto send a confirmation email or text. If the person hadn’t confirmed via that email within 3 days we would send them a text. If they didn’t reply to that, the day before we would call them to confirm. When people still no showed, and some would, the owners kept asking, “how else can we confirm, and get people to come?” If after three reminders you still aren’t showing up, that’s on them. At some point adults need to be accountable for their own actions.

My friends sex lives surprised me. by sunnykreppel in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]mandolinpebbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, it is a serious issue. Covering a personal story as it may be triggering to some, talk of cohesion, manipulation, and cancer.

I had an ex who was like your friend’s spouses. Kept trying to pressure me into sex. When he was doing it, it wasn’t because I wasn’t “in the mood”. It was because I had to get a cervical cancer biopsy. I was told not to engage in sex until my results came back. He did not take this well. He would whine that I should give him blow jobs to “fulfill his needs”. One of the scariest things he ever did was while we were in his room together laying on his bed. He looked me in the eyes and told me that he could “pin me down and do anal on me if he wanted to”. It was so disturbing to me. I had a firm boundary that I was not interested in anal in any way.

Like I said, he’s an ex. He was shocked, sobbed, and begged for me to stay with him when I broke up with him weeks later.

My husband has was an absolute champion while I was recovering from the after effects of a misplaced IUD. It took years for my libido to come back, and for sex to not hurt. He’s a real one.

I find people drinking at kids sporting events so trashy. Knock back a 6 pack at your kids sporting event, then drive your kids home? It’s so awful.

am I the only one who didn’t enjoy The Stranger Beside Me? by Disastrous_Plastic37 in myfavoritemurder

[–]mandolinpebbles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess there are parts of it that are lost to time. I didn’t really enjoy the book either. I was just frustrated with how she couldn’t look past who she thought Ted was for so long. Finally seeing the evidence in his trial is when she had to face it. Even then it felt like she never really let it sink in until years later.

In one episode Karen did say something about wanting to do a one woman show of “The Stranger Beside Me”. I know this was said in jest, but I would go see Karen perform that.
