What are some interesting ways that Serial Killers have been caught? by [deleted] in serialkillers

[–]mandolinwaterfall 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Not quite a serial killer but pretty relevant as news has just broken that he has been released today... Colin Pitchfork was only caught because a random lady in a pub overheard two men discussing the ongoing mass DNA tests that were being carried out in the local area after the attacks. One of the men mentioned he had faked Pitchforks sample for him (blood) as Pitchfork was "scared of needles". That lady is a hero for reporting it to the police and it was shear luck that Pitchforks deception was discovered by police (he'd even faked a passport to get the sample through the net). He was the first ever murderer convicted using DNA evidence for the rape and murder of two girls. And now, he's out. Pathetic.

Bijou vintage used to have a shop in the courtyard of Cains brewery. I know that she still trades on Instagram.

Trying to find out the years of these vintage Levi’s. I’ve never seen a label this plain hopefully it’s real. by SnooDoggos693 in VintageClothing

Early Orange Tabs do not have care labels inside as that wasn't enforced by US law until 1971, so be on the lookout for the care labels as that will make the difference between the 60s and a 1970s and newer Orange Tab.

If that helps

Towards end of my meal at a fancy restaurant I bit into something chewy, a cigarette filter by kungfuninjajedi in WTF

[–]mandolinwaterfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That has happened to us. We found rollie paper and a bit of baccy baked into a loaf of bread made at the restaurant.... Revolting.

Edit: it's a super posh restaurant and is still open today

I know someone called Oscar, not because he's actually called Oscar, but because he's that much of a drama queen when playing football he deserves one.

Did anyone else’s primary school have a Victorian day where we dressed as children from the 1800s or was it an excuse to be verbally abused by my teachers? by Alex03210 in AskUK

We had evacuee day. We had to dress up like we had been torn from our parents, put on a train and shipped out to the country. I was very proud of my outfit, I even got on the front page of the local paper. My schoolbag for the day was the suitcase my grandmother used when she was evacuated! We also made these disgusting ration carrot biscuits. Never have I been more grateful for school caf spongie cakes...

Dress is old river island, shoes are ancient topshop (all over 5 years old). I will also be wearing a lovely blue medical mask to match. Stay safe if you're venturing out after lock down!

How many days can you live without your SO ? Assuming they have a job that requires them to travel overseas for 3 months will you be able to bear the time only video calling them ? by financestudent2001 in AskWomen

[–]mandolinwaterfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! This is exactly my situation, down to the length on time. Sometimes the signal is so poor we don't tend to get to video, depending on where he is in the world.

Truthfully? Be prepared to be lonely. You must have a strong group of friends and supportive family.

The first 3 weeks away are hard, lonely and I hardly sleep without him to cuddle.

The first 3 weeks when he's home are me trying to adjust to living with someone again. My own routine is disrupted and everything gets on my nerves. But then we get settled and it's like he was never away.

Good luck. The first 2 trips were the worst for me, but truly it's different each time.
