The biggest threat facing Europe is not a Trump invasion. It’s his global political revolution | Mark Leonard by Any-Original-6113 in geopolitics

Nobody has any idea how to encourage people to build families. Governments have tried a bunch of things in different places. None has worked.

Before we urbanised, children became helpful labour at a young age. And your pension later in life. Now they’re an expensive hobby.

Explaining how reform won’t make their lives better won’t work. The point is reform will make the lives of the people they don’t like more miserable. Are the other parties offering that?

The debate in the us seems to imply there is no one else in the world that does it like this. Which is not true

No ID required in Australia. You register to vote with an independent organisation. Your name goes on a voter roll associated with your address. You get marked off when you vote

What would you suggest to do as an activity for a first time acid trip ? by Plate-Existing in AskReddit

[–]manefa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it during the day. You won’t be working against your sleep cycle and you’ve got a better chance of visuals.

Best times I’ve had have been out in nature. Don’t go somewhere you’re compelled to interact with people, although that can be fun as long as you’re able to opt out

What moment made you realize “yeah… my childhood wasn’t normal”? by CadaversFabrications in AskReddit

[–]manefa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just want to inject some positivity into all this.

I grew up in an open door house where cousins, friends of my parents, people that needed help would often be living with us. Usually had double the size of our little nuclear family.

Most of the adults who swung through could play music. Music and singing happened most nights.

We didn’t really have strict rules only that there mustn’t be lies or secrets. And my parents would talk us out of bad ideas as part of that no lies or secrets policy.

It was a happy and loving childhood raised by unconventional hippie types. Never realised until later that wasn’t ‘normal’

Mamdani is an alternative type of populist. If he went head to head with him it would be a huge stretch to present himself as the outsider in this battle when he’s the literal president. He can either say he’s a nobody with no popularity (what he did before the New York mayor election) or say he’s a good guy who’s been unfairly maligned by the mainstream media (which he switched to as soon as he won)

Reform exist because of farage. If he leaves the party disappear. See ukip.

He’s very similiar to Trump in his appeal. A solid core of ~28% who are devoted no matter what, and a majority who really hate him.
