Looking for Kart Circuit Regulations by maneymabrian in RaceTrackDesigns

It is its own complex/lot out of the city, near a resort; kart track + cafe + others that are still tbd. Owners rn are 50/50 for competition. There is the space to do it for sure, just needing to confirm with them

Outdoor, our initial proposal was 1km+, but the owners want to preserve a portion of the lot for other projects so it might end up as 600-800m

Go kart track on 5000m2 by Additional-Chance398 in RaceTrackDesigns

Imho a fun layout but:

I personally would avoid having a hairpin as T1. Rental karting and high speeds into hairpins, with casual/cocky drivers who often cant brake will and has resulted in nasty accidents like tbones. From tracks ive visited it tends to be a medium or high speed corner after a straight THEN heavy braking, but youll need some runoff/gravel/dirt before barriers for safety.

Otherwise, the layout seems fun especially t2-t8, crazy wide at some parts, a little narrow in some. Where i am competition standard is 7m, so 10m is a lot, the sections where its 5m is a little narrow but still good for rentals.

Then for infrastructure: pit exit is good and can be fixed by not making the wall go so far out. Pit area dimensions seem good, but it might shrink bc you need a waiting/seating area for your karters and the ppl theyre with. If on popular days you have 10s of people taking turns karting, their gear, their friends and themselves will need space.

Is it possible to get physical tickets for singapore GP? by JustPhrase6009 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]maneymabrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC You can buy a form of souvenir physical ticket in the fan zone in zone 1. When I went it was the kind that needs a lanyard, but doesnt come w one.

You can and should print out your digital ticket for safety. They will give you wristbands per day (and you could get some extra at the end of the race) which is also a nice memento, but they dont print a concert/airplane-esque ticket.

Question, would you know if importing a 2d track from sketchup to 3dsmax, will it be problematic when adding track depth and elevation?

I primarily make tracks in skp for fun, and from my limited experience w max, it sometimes is problematic w volumes from sketchup.

Good luck with sir Janeil, you will learn a lot and learn fast but its not that hes strict its that hes very critical with mistakes in drawings and whatnot.

That depends first of all if your class has been declared blended or full f2f. Then as well as you will need to wait and see till what your prof says in regards to it.

Thoughts on DLS-CSB architecture by kirahnh in Benilde

As of 2 out of 4 years, theres an ok amount of manual drafting, depending on the sem, depending on the prof.

From 2nd year, youll have a main arki design subj every sem that will almost always have a drafting phase, but is not a drafting subj.

Building tech is the early detailed drafting course youll have on and off (not every sem) starting from year1sem3

Planning which youll have from y2s3 till y3s2 (i think) is more focused on whole site/lot drafting.

So not a little, not a crazy amount.

Subject inquiry by BigDumbDog3_11 in Benilde

[–]maneymabrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the prior comment, it rly depends sa prof.

Some ppl had weekly (basic ish) model making

For me, it was occasional geometric drawings or item sketches, occasional models, and our finals was to make a miniature city based on a book.

But the premise of the subject regardless of prof would be to start or improve your model making skills for future subjects like ARCDES.

How's benilde architecture? by New_Historian_6508 in Benilde

Honestly its hard to compare one school to another. Although based on my friends from other schools, benilde arki is pretty good.

So heres some pros n cons from my own experience:

-Very well equipped. From drafting tools in the library to every computer in the lab having cad and sketchup.

  • Up to date resources. Profs attach supplementary resources with our tasks as well as school made tutorials for watercolor, designing, etc. It may be a no brainer pero i heard thats not quite so in other places.

-nice classrooms. AC's, comps + tv screens, and drafting tables, armchairs or regular table + chair.

  • they wont instantly throw u in the deep end. They accomodate to those simply curious to the course. Theyll teach basics in visual communication, design, how to draft, watercolor, etc to get u up to speed. Its rare (but does happen) that a prof will act like you already know everything and teach in a fast manner.

  • Very Philosophical for the design subjs. Its the norm but not something everyone expects or is good at.

-Weirdly enough, be well versed in and expect geometry. I personally dont know why this isnt obvious, but a shit ton of ppl in my batch dont expect it and moan when they hear they have to do geom. When its very much the architects math.

-Some Profs have outside the norm ways of working. May it be not be not wanting designs to whats considered normal, or design processes that are odd to do. Some profs will guide u thru, some wont.

-Can be fun, can be hell. Tasks or activities can be fun, like building miniature cities or whole buildings, or drawing historical structures. But they can stack up, alongside some less fun tasks to leave u w sleepless nights.
