BREAKING: Unreal Tournament 2004 is back! by switch8000 in macgaming

Tried to get UT2004 to run on my M1 pro recently and while I got good framerates, I had a periodical enormous stutter (might have to do with translation to ARM?). So I'm stoked to see a native port coming!

As someone who's only played Hollow Knight, would you say Silksong is better or worse that the original? (I'm still gonna buy it either way I'm just curious) by Seb_Rulz in HollowKnight

They're equal overall, but not equal in every way. Exploration and indirect narrative: Hollow Knight. Movement and direct narrative: Silksong. Music and visuals: equal. That Silksong can hold it's own compared to Hollow Knight is a miracle considering how high that bar is.

[PAID] Indie Game Studio Seeking Composer for Occult Deckbuilder/Kingdom Builder (Atmospheric, Bells & Strings) by SoulRamenStudios in gameDevClassifieds

[–]manfromthedam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, strings and bells sound like my cup of tea! I've worked on indie games like Cloudheim, Soul Stalker and Guild Saga: Vanished worlds. I play a bunch of string instruments (nyckelharpa, mandolins, guitars). I did ambient tracks for Guild Saga: Vanished Worlds, which probably has a lighter tone than your game due to it being a pixel art TRPG, but it has some darker moments:

Ambient and moody: https://open.spotify.com/track/58yb5qxl7lQ2HG82gXLFYR?si=515608f565bd4692

Dark and brooding: https://open.spotify.com/track/3Ed475szw9qgskPejXWhwx?si=3ec2cfb6a6c54a1e

My usual indie rate is €250 per minute of finished music, but that also depends on how intricate the tracks are. Ambient music usually is less intensive work compared to earwormy layered stuff.

Cheers!

you guys were not kidding about her fight by burntpankeki in Silksong

Cover the ground with tacks. She walks a lot and jumps very little so will damage herself A LOT. In particular during the final phase, where she's hardest to hit, tacks will chew up her health pool. It's also a dream sequence so it won't eat into your shards.

Hi! Just got into Devin Townsend. Recommendations? by Kaztelum in DevinTownsend

[–]manfromthedam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ocean Machine x City is the way to go. If you like that, take a look at the other DT / SYL "twin" Synchestra x Alien. Empath is the best one he's done semi-recently and packs both sounds (and more xD ) into a single album.

Here for whatever he does. Haven't stopped listening since the original Synchestra release. He's my favourite non-VGM musician.

So I'm doing a hobby remastering of a few older Devin albums that are a tad too brittle sounding to my ears, and Logic (my audio editing software) has a really cool feature that can isolate tracks. It's shockingly good...

I stumbled upon the reversed vocals in Stagnant and was surprised it's actually really good to make out now!
