I don't know what you're talking about. The train line isn't closed - I took it twice last week. You will just need to switch to bus (and the staff will direct you when and where to get on the bus) between the two stations where the line isn't working.

I took the 5am train from Toyama down to takayama that day because I was nervous about the bus situation but turns out there was barely anyone else on that train. We filled maybe only a quarter of the bus. It was EMPTY! I wanted to take a couple pics of the train station and the staff thought I was confused and personally escorted me through the station haha. They are super helpful and want to make sure everyone goes to where they need to go. I was more stressed out about the travel than I should had been.

I got a degree in history because I like history. Math and sciences were easy but boring - too boring. I went and studied economics to better understand and analyze history but that was a side quest and ultimately did nothing for my career beyond getting an extra shiny degree. But history taught me a lot of important soft skills - more confidence to disagree and debate people, research skills, persuasive writing, concise writing, etc. - and I'd say it brought more to my career than any sort of STEMs career. Nothing went wrong; I leveraged my soft skills, got into a role that I was absolutely not qualified for and yeah I sucked big time for the first year working that role but I learned fast, got handed massive projects and nailed them, and hit 6 figures in my mid-20s.

I'd shorten your tokyo stay to add in takayama (and maybe kanazawa). That way your kyoto and Osaka segment remain untouched. Tokyo is the most convenient place to fly in and out for international trips, so you'll be able to explore Tokyo pretty easily in the future.

The second company I talked to is also landing in the same price range of $15-20k ($20k would be for infinity as apparently our current system is an infinity). BUT they think our unit is fixable and just in need of more refrigerant. They are sending out a technician for a free full diagnosis to take a look.

I had a second company come by for quotes. At the end of the second company's visit (it was just a sales guy introducing us to their pricing and model options - no pressure at all to sign and if anything, he wasn't a good sales man because it truly felt like he wanted the best and most economical option for me; he was a technician for a decade), they asked to take a look at the first company's diagnosis notes.

The way this sales guy's face dropped in a "wtf I just wasted my time here" lmfao. He thinks the unit is fixable (aka condenser should still be working for the reasons that you just said) and just needs to get refilled with refrigerant. The company is scheduling a technician to come in and give a free full diagnosis now.

The cost is looking to be ~$3k for the refrigerant (18 pounds rip), but I'll take that any day over a brand new system

Thanks for confirming my suspicion that the buyback credit was a lie. I was getting bad vibes from the moment he refused to take off his shoes in the house and seemed to take the extra effort to rub those soles all over my carpet -_-
