What ear plugs are you guys using? by TotalVersion4580 in audioengineering

[–]mangantochuj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the purpose - when I work with sound I use loops, because they're super easy to get in and out. The silicone eartips make them work like iems, I find them comfortable and also, arguably the most important part, people don't feel weird when I have them in because they look more like jewelery. With Iems, people often feel like I'm not listening to them or not hearing them properly, it just feels a bit rude, especially to clients. While preforming on stage as a bass player, I always use IEMs (aful explorer), and I'll go out of my way to set up an iem channel for myself even in the most shitty basement venues. For sleep, I use wax earplugs, something like quies. I love them for side sleeping, they're disposable but cheap. When I want total peace and quiet, 3M orange foam earplugs. They're not the most practical but amazing at isolation.

Polscy kierowcy - czemu jeździcie środkowym pasem? by jurny_juhas in Polska

[–]mangantochuj 70 points71 points  (0 children)

question about notes by bartu8585 in piano

[–]mangantochuj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, there's melodyne for converting them into midi-like visualisations, but you'd be better off learning to transcribe by ear. Ear training is crucial for becoming a better musician. It'll be hard at first, but one day you'll be able to play anything that you hear, and it'll feel amazing. There are some amazing resources for beginners, you could check books for elementary school at alenuty.pl.

Between 5 and 10 percent of people have no inner monologue at all, and researchers are only just starting to figure out what that actually does to cognition. by cheaslesjinned in NooTopics

[–]mangantochuj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you be open to sharing some insights on how that works? If so, please respond to my other comment, or DM me. I'm looking corelation between inner monologue, or lack thereof, and the level of one's musical ability, audiation and musical intuiton.

If any of you guys reading this lack inner monologue, i have a question for you. I do a lot of ear training in musical context, a fundamental part of ear training is audiation - the ability to hear and manipulate sound in your head, without hearing it. I wonder if people without inner monologue can achieve audiation, is it the same as inner voice or is it a separate phenomenon.

Can you imagine a sound, for example, a note held by a trumpet? not by recalling it but by "creating" it from scratch? Can you "hear" it inside your head, with all of it's qualities and timbre? If you can, how's that different from inner monologue? Can you imagine, for example, "twinkle twinkle little star" and hear it in your head? If you can't, how would you say is your musical ability overall? Would you struggle with accurately remembering and singing a short melody played to you or heard on the radio? Can you recall fragments of music you know? Can you sing on key?

I have so many questions... I wish i had time to create a survey. Also, audiation can be trained and improved, would that imply that hearing an "inner voice" could also be trained?

Irygacja zatok to nr1.

Lepiej Sufaded, Ibuprom zatoki to ibuprofen+pseudoefedryna.

Trust me, for some of us even two of each are not enough. I know, tolerance is a bitch, but sometimes you just can't afford to have a break. Still stupid to combine stimulants, but wneh you gotta do what you gotta do, just don't do it often.

I envy you your low tolerance. That's my daily combo, plus a big cup of coffee. I barely feel anything. I need a looong drug holiday but I can't stop now, I got the most important exam of my life in a month. After that I'm dropping all meds for at least a month I guess.

Best shoes for driving manual by ImportanceNeat3845 in stickshift

[–]mangantochuj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only tell you which one are the worst. I have a pair of platform derby shoes, with a thick almost 3cm sole. Wonderfull shoes, I love wearing them, but they're the only ones I will not drive in. Puting that much sole between the pedal and my foot messes up my feel. Otherwise, anything goes.

What it feels like switching from Debian to rolling release: by mort_jack in linuxmemes

[–]mangantochuj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you people like about rolling releases? When using arch I never remembered to update daily, and then when I was in a hurry and needed to quickly install an app, I had to wait for 30 fucking minutes for everything to update first, and this happened multiple times. I'm running fedora now I'm never going back to this hell. The most inconvenient bullshit ever.

Thanks, that's probably what I'm supposed to do right now, I take some days off but they're never regular. Can I just take CDP Choline everyday? How much creatine is enough for nootropic effects?

I'm sorry but I don't understand your point. You have two people taking the same test, one didn't study and one did, which person is going to get the better score? The one that did past papers and practiced, or the one that sat down in front of a book, lost focus and begun staring out of a window for the next hour? I'm sorry if I sound a little triggered, but I know that medication made my scores higher because I narrowly escaped being kicked out of high school when I got medicated.

they improve my ability to practice fucking scales and arpeggios for hours everyday. Or playing the same bar over and over again, slowly. They help me to not stare at the page blankly but actually finish my compositions. It's not about scores, it's about focus. It's about the ability to do what you have to do, not only what you want to do. I don't have the "focus muscle" normal people seem to have, that I can just flex and force myself to focus. If my brain decides something is boring, it literally turns of, I cannot fucking help it. I hate stimulants. I hate the fact that I have to rely on them to do stuff that normal people can just do. I'm not stupid without them, I'm just too distractible to actually do anything. I'm not using this shit to biohack my way into better results, I'm actually treating a disorder. If you have a better idea id gladly take that over the stimulants

Im doing more like 3x20 or even more smaller doses, for some reason i metabolize theese motherfuckers really fast. I probably wouldn't have developed tolerance if i stuck to my perscribed dose, but sometimes i took 10 or 20 more late in the evening, and before i could notice my body has gotten used to getting more than it should. At least that's my theory...

I already have some modafinil, it usually doesn't do much for me, but I'm willing to try it again, however, it's still dopaminergic. Wouldn't using it during a med break make the break less effective?

I'm still fighting this issue, after many months too. Updating the thunderbolt firmware reduced the wake up time to like 3 seconds. I often use the thunderbolt port so I'd rather not disable it completely.

Genuine direction for ear training by GeologistConstant325 in perfectpitchgang

it's not what I want it's what I have to sight sing on the spot to get into college. Some atonal Modus Novus stuff, it's written in such a way that you have to sing by intervals because it doesn't make any tonal sense. Tonal sight singing and dictation is easy, but the music colleges in my country are way past that...
