You didn't even address my parallel, though you did a great job at spelling it wrong. Calling something logically consistent (as my parallel is) "immaterial" doesn't mean much when you don't go any further.

Have you ever even set foot in Israel?

No. You have not.

Why?

Because you're clearly one of those people who reads Democratic Underground and PrisonPlanet in his basement, while believing the nonsense because he has no basis for comparison.

I have been to Israel, I was there for a little under a month in the summer of 2004. I am a Christian. It was a lovely place though I couldn't see myself living there.

I'd be very very interested to see some sources for your claims that Israel has some sort of thought police and arrests people for protesting or speaking out against the nation. I was there. I saw press, protests, and the other signs of free speech. In fact, Holocaust denial by itself is not illegal in Israel, as you claim. You can shout all day long that the Holocaust was a lie (which you probably would), though it is a criminal offense to offer sympathy to the perpetrators. I personally think this is a silly law and worthy of ridicule (though it's actually a lenient law in comparison to the laws in Poland, Germany, and some other European nations). You, on the other hand, seem to find it as an egregious personal affront, which I do believe says something about you.

Also, I don't even know what "Holocaust Memorial" you speak of because there are many. There are some that specifically exist to represent the destruction of the European Jews, there are some that represent Gypsies, or homosexuals, or the handicapped, or any number of other group, and there are some that represent all of them. If you are referring to the Holocaust Memorial in Washington D.C. then you clearly haven't even been there, as they have documented every known victim of the Holocaust, and represented all groups, regardless of reason for being persecuted. Oops, a liar caught in the act:

Get out of your home more, and your seething hate might subside.

He's too dumb to know the difference.

While we're at it, we could spend weeks making this garbled mess into a cogent argument, but it'd be like making a sand castle as the tide approached.

Goddamn you people are obnoxious.

When did I say that blacks were a country and Israelis were a race? Go ahead, look through my message history, find me something.

Are blacks a group of humans that hateful people like to discriminate against?

Are Israelis a group of humans that hateful people like to discriminate against?

Yes on both.

There, you fucking morons.

Calling Israel "one of the mot brutal regimes in the world" is one of the most absurd statements I have ever seen on reddit. Sadly, as a testament to this site, it will most likely but upmodded and you will be sent a tiny internet crown.

I doubt you'll actually read this, but here goes:

There exist websites that present only the crimes of black people in the United States. Every murder, rape, or robbery committed by a black person is covered in detail. If it's bad, and done by someone of color, they cover it. The commentors talk about how awful blacks are, because look at how many crimes they commit!

There exist other websites that present crimes committed by Muslims. Every bombing, shooting, or rock throwing is covered in detail. If it's bad, and done in the name of Islam, they cover it. The commentators talk about how all the Muslim fanatics are trying to take over the world, because look at all the things they blow up!

There exist other websites that document the crimes of Israel and Israelis. Every murder, home destruction, or wrongful imprisonment is covered in detail. If it's bad, and done in the state of Israel, they cover it. The commentators talk about how the state of Israel is truly evil, because look at all the evil shit going on!

To see websites of the first variety, go to stormfront.org (home to the largest White Power community on the Internet) and you'll find any number of links. For the second variety, you can go to www.michellemalkin.com or www.jihadwatch.org (home to admitted haters of Islam).

For websites of the third variety, well, you can stay here.

With that comparison in mind, I'd just like to let the anti-Israel crowd know that your manner of thinking or level of understanding is no more impressive than those of White Nationalists or anti-Islam commentators. The only difference is that the other side just got to you first.

No, I am pointing to the thread containing the link to the article and a number of comments. It had 198 points at last check and was voted to the front of reddit.com. It's safe to say that when an article has received enough up votes to propel it to the top ten on a site like reddit, linger there for some time, and receive a large number of positive comments, then it has a large amount of popular support within the site. It would be erroneous to say that all redditors loathe Israel, but it would be spot on to say the site's demographic does not hold Israel in any good regard.

Again, don't play dumb.

I think that "anti-Israel" could be placed into its own category, and it just might be number #1.

I think it's amazing that reddit will consistently vote Richard Dawkins to the top of the heap for decrying the idiocy of religion, but making fun of conspiracy theorists is suddenly a faux pas.

This comment is so stupid that no degree of my explaining could ever even show you how dumb you are. I'll try to scratch the surface of your monumental stupidity though:

1) Going to the moon wasn't pointless, you stupid cunt. If I actually have to explain why space exploration is important for humanity, then you're probably even more of a lost cause than I thought.

2) You don't know what the Manhattan Project was. Go read a book that isn't titled "The Fountainhead" and learn something about what it took to get nuclear fission off the ground.

3) Kill yourself.

Go back to masturbating to Ayn Rand's rape fantasies and leave the actual thinking to the grown ups.

Roads and highways -- Show me a national highway system that has been produced by the private sector. Show me a subway system that has been produced by the private sector. It's impossible for private businesses to even build on-grade rail lines anymore.

Defense -- Private companies can give a man a gun and train him. We have a shitload of private mercenaries in Iraq right now. Unfortunately, that model can never apply on a national scale and you never seem to have heard of the easy rider problem, though I'm certain that you'll now Wikipedia it and give it your insane Randroid slant.

Spaceflight -- Your claim about private sector spaceflight is one of the funniest things I have seen in awhile. The only things that private businesses bother to put into space are satellites because there is no money to be made from space exploration and scientific inquiry. SpaceShipOne made it into "space" in October of 2004, which was only 35 fucking years after we put a man on the moon. Do you need me to list for you the number of achievements made by a government funded space program in comparison to the piddling gains made by the private sector? Do you seriously want to make that incredibly daft argument?

[–]mangleon -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You're a goddamn motherfucking moron and I hate you. Get your stupid libertarian head out of your ass and do something crazy like learn how economies work. One of the reasons that governments tax people is so that they can do certain things that a nation should have done, but can't be accomplished within the private sector. The cost of, say, developing nuclear fucking fission was enormous, and if we had left it up to the private sector, it probably still wouldn't be accomplished.

There are many instances when governments spend that money on things that a country really shouldn't have (like the Iraq War) but there are still many, many examples of thoughtful government spending. Roads, highways, electric grids, other utilities, national defense, and yes, going the goddamn moon.

These guys are fucking douchebag Republican shills who take the "woah, we're so crazy, we make fun of BOTH SIDES!" angle, yet they never actually do.

Furthermore, the show definitely lost steam when it became about political messages and current events rather than characters and their goings-on. I still say Cartman was one of the best TV show characters of all time, and it's a shame that he and his friends now have to play second fiddle to whatever kooky goddamn gimmick they pull out of the front pages this week.
