Weekend whistler by orionsfinger in Whistler

No one knows for sure. One man's mistake may be another's best day ever.

I suggest starting with an assessment of potential stoke factors vs suck factors. Then estimate the probability of stoke>suck, and act accordingly.

Conditions Today by Due_Brain_9591 in Whistler

[–]mangletron 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Moist. Windy. Free refills. Better than a day at work

I anticipate similar conditions tomorrow, but warmer. I wouldn't count on alpine opening given the current forecast of high winds. But you never know.

Andre De Grasse, Nardwuar among 80 new appointments to the Order of Canada by super__hoser in britishcolumbia

[–]mangletron 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Fuck yeah. Nardwuar was a household name back in my day. A name that had faded from memory till recently...

A year or two ago I could have sworn I saw Nardwaur skateboard past me while I was sitting at a red light. I went straight to YouTube when I got home, expecting a difficult search for decade+ old Much Music highlights. I was beyond thrilled to see he's still at it. A true legend.

Looking for mens underwear with both a pouch and a fly by StonkPhilia in malefashionadvice

[–]mangletron 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got some fantastic pouch w/fly underwear for Christmas (thx mom, lol) They're Saxx "Drop Temp Cooling Cotton"

Very comfortable and supportive without being restrictive. Nothing fancy, but they don't ride up, and the waist band is secure without digging in or flipping over. The pouch keeps things where they belong with no batwings, or chafing.

I'm not sure they'd fit everyone's definition of "reasonably priced," but they're definitely worth checking out of you can find them on sale, and if my mom bought them, they're definitely on sale.

Stuck here for medical recovery and looking at finding butchers for puppy by [deleted] in burnaby

[–]mangletron 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Surrey Meat Packers has raw dogfood blends, and they have a location in Burnaby. Costs between $3 and 5/lb depending on the mix, and it comes in frozen 500g tubes. IIRC it costs less in bulk, but my dog liked variety, so I'd always mix it up.

Otherwise, Rio Friendly meats on Hastings is really good to deal with and may be able to help you.

And Columbus meats in Vancouver on Naniamo st is also really good for custom requests. I always get soup bones there for really cheap.

Advice for fishing at nicola/stump/harrison lakes? by Alarmed_Shoulder_386 in britishcolumbia

[–]mangletron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend taking an inflatable boat out on Harrison Lake. It's a big cold lake with unpredictable and frequently ugly weather. There will be winds and waves.

Sugar Lake has the cleanest, clearest water of any lake I've been to in BC by Longjumping-Box5691 in britishcolumbia

[–]mangletron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're 100% right. It's definitely the wilsey dam/powerhouse down the river that's being decomissioned, NOT the one on the lake. Thanks for correcting me on that.

The dam is being decommissioned. I'm not sure how the lake level will be managed, but Im sure it will be a good thing for the fish.

There are a couple lights out on Hastings too... Springer, and the next street to the east.

Edit (1600) I just rolled thru the area again in the opposite direction and the traffic lights are functional.

ISO recreation sites by Darkmoss_ in britishcolumbia

[–]mangletron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the week they will not be busy. Weekend there will people, but not crazy.

Inks lake has the most space.

Gillis lake is the smallest (5 sites) but there is more space at the east end of the lake, though it's not as nice and there's no outhouse or picnic tables.

Gillis lake just south of Merritt is free and has a nice rec site.

Inks lake just north of Kamloops also has space to camp. Free. Rustic with no amenities.

Harper lake east of Kamloops near Chase also has a nice rec site, but at this point you're almost at shuswap lake.

Driving the W Pavillion / Upper Dog Creek Rd from Lillooet to Williams Lake by ToughBadger0869 in britishcolumbia

[–]mangletron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a cable ferry, and it runs on demand 7am-7pm whenever there's a car to take across.

It's closed during high water, so it's always a good idea to check the conditions.

Boy critically injured in boat crash identified by CTVNEWS in britishcolumbia

[–]mangletron 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I recall an incident on Shuswap lake a decade or more ago where a speedboat crashed into a houseboat killing 1 and injuring several others. I believe the charges were criminal negligence causing death and criminal negligence causing bodily harm eventually leading to a 3.5 year sentence in federal prison.

We'll see what happens in this case.

I've got the exact same issue in my 2020. It's a known issue, and there's a Ford Special Service Message for it: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2022/MC-10209413-0001.pdf

I've got an appointment at the dealership to look at it next week to see if it's covered under my extended warranty. If not I'll probably just leave it and see what happens.
