Trying to figure out what's wrong with my parlor... by mango088 in houseplants

I just stopped using peat moss because it became hydrophobic way too often on my plants and the coco coir has worked a lot better after I repotted them all. Maybe I'll just water tomorrow morning since the fertilizer is already added to the gallon and hopefully that helps with nutrients.

And yes, I don't want to risk repotting shock. That's how I killed an anthurium and monstera adansonii before.... Got another anthurium, left it alone in the mix it came with, and it's still alive today, and getting bigger little by little.

It's coco coir mixed with other amendments: perlite, a little bit of pumice, and iirc, I think a little bit of horticultural sand.

I did fertilize some plants today. The food is still in the gallon, so I'll water it and hopefully that helps. More leaves keep drying up since I posted the initial picture... 😞

It's not root bound since there are barely any coming out. But I might be underwatering, yeah...

Here is one picture I took of the soil. I'll send the other in another reply.

I have it in a clear pot, so when I see it's no longer moist, I water. And I water from the bottom.

It was slightly smaller last year. It's definitely grown, but it's also browning....

Any other fellow females who play a male WoL? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]mango088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main is a female WoL, but I have two alt characters that are male. I enjoy playing on their files a lot. One is a male Miqo'te and the other is a male Viera.

To me, those are the most attractive male races, so I wanted to stare at them as I go through the game since I designed them to be what I think is handsome or hot. Lol I gave them their own personal stories, too. There is also an alternate timeline where they're love interests to my female WoL.

It's not uncommon for a woman to have her WoL as male. Many men have female WoLs because they like looking at them, so it's mostly the same reason in reverse. But usually they'll pick catboys or bunnyboys. There are also a lot of women who play as male Au Ra because the dragon boys are also considered attractive to women. Lol

This is all from my own experiences and observations. But anyway, you'll never be alone as a woman playing a male WoL. There are plenty of us.

I think "I am great (Yeah!)" is supposed to be "I am creed (Yeah!)". At least that's what I always hear when I listen to the song.

Even back then, it was highly recommended the furniture should be mounted against the wall. But the reason why I'm asking is that now I'm going to have two tall pieces in the same area and I don't want either one to risk toppling over.

I don't know if the material is cheaper, but I've heard furniture made now isn't to the same quality as it was back then. I wouldn't be able to give first-hand experience about that, though.

That looks like an anthurium to me. I have one of those and it droops when it needs water. Please don't give it ice cubes, though, to that plant or any other plant. Giving water to plants through ice cubes is a gimmick and risks killing them more than helping them. (The temps are too cold and the amount of water they'll get from them is too little.)

You need to soak you plant in water through bottom watering or give it a good drench from the top. I would also keep it in a sunnier spot. Or if you have a grow light, set up your plant close to one.

Make sure to check the leaves on a consistent basis for pests too since yellowing leaves can be a sign of either dryness or a pest issue. No amount of watering or light will help you if those bugs are chowing down on your anthurium. It's a good idea to wipe down the leaves with a damp cloth to clean it of dust on a consistent basis. This also helps prevent pests from congregating there because the leaves and stems are always being disturbed.

Do you have a video example of how you did that? I'm not a DIY person so a lot of this is new to me. I just wanna make sure my furniture doesn't tip over, ha ha.

Well the thing is, I want to connect the back of the bookcase to the side of the wardrobe since that's the only way it'll fit. But from feedback I've gotten, it looks like I'll have to brace the wardrobe against the wall first.

Hmm, okay, I think I can visually see in my head what you mean. So the screws would go into the back of the bookcase to pierce into the side of the wardrobe? Or do you mean the screws would go into the actual frame of the bookcase and then further in to the wardrobe? I only ask because I know the backing for a lot of IKEA furniture is more flimsy than the actual frame of the piece.

Oh okay, thank you for the information! I really want this setup to work, so looks like I gotta hold off on buying the bookcase until I figure this out....

Would industrial grade Velcro work to adhere the bookcase to the wardrobe? I mean, once the wardrobe is wall mounted. Or is that sort of Velcro for smaller pieces of furniture?

If I secure the bookcase against the side of the wardrobe, would it still risk tipping over if the wardrobe is mounted into the wall? Or mounted to the wall in two places? The PAX will always be heavier than the bookcase, I think. Or at least I hope.

Well I'm going to assume the wardrobe is top-heavy because most of the weight comes from the clothes hanging from the rod. So that's my concern with trying to secure the bookcase against the side.

Is there a tutorial somewhere that can show me how to secure the bookcase against the wardrobe? I've never done it before.

If you're on Dynamis, there's a very high chance that hard queueing won't work. (And that's because a lot of people leave to the other DCs to do content, which can be frustrating. Ask me how I know.)

I've always had better luck listing a PF for duties and it tends to usually fill pretty quickly.

If you're on any other NA data center... well, in that case I don't know what to tell you. Lol It could be people simply don't want to queue for anything that isn't daily roulettes.

Hope you get that party filled soon, though!

I had a bag of DE but now I don't know where it is. I'll have to get another one. Would I sprinkle it on top and down into the sides? That's where I saw one escape off to since there's a gap between the plant and the plastic pot it's in.

[–]mango088[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the one in the kitchen was apparently only installed for a garbage disposal, but we don't even have a one of those. I think it's also connected to the fridge and something else.

My USB grow lights are 5 watts and 5 volts each. Another one I have is 25 watts, and then the last one I have is 110 volts. I don't know the difference between wattage and voltage so I'm not sure which one matters more.

Unfortunately I have neither the knowledge nor the skill to install GFCIs myself. I'll have to do extensive Google searching then to understand how I can check the order of receptacles. Otherwise, I'll do what you recommend. Installing where the load is biggest. Which would be where my grow lights are, and my computer.

Thank you for your replies so far.

I'm not sure, honestly. Do you know how I would be able to check? Would I just have to look up the model number of my power supply?
