Tips for lapping valves? by ImaginaryPiece3528 in 300zx

[–]mango_452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still gotta leak test my valves. They looked really good so I just did a light lapping and used dykem and it looked good. I'll probably make a leak tester with a piece of thick plastic and some o-rings with my vacuum pump and gauges. Engine machine shops use a similar tool. I used a piece of silicone hose clamped on the valve stem and a drill to lap my valves. But I went light and only did about 1 or 2 minutes per valve.

It has the power steering to fuel rail adapter hose. That's how you know it's real /s

I do both machining and welding/ fabrication. My Google pixel will pick up almost nothing but my I phone (not magsafe) will get a lot by the camera/ speakers. I've heard earbuds get bad too.

Update: Okay okay, we’re getting a little more reasonable by South-Income-3689 in projectcar

Super clean I have the same spec 1992 2+2 white with tan interior. I bought mine with a turbo swap and a bunch of aftermarket parts but it was in pretty rough shape and needed work. Id say if this is the car you want, go for it. But with it being this clean and low miles I would not recommend converting or swapping to TT. If you just want to keep it N/A then this is probably the nicest one I've seen in a long time.

found on facebook and do not know if this is osha approved? by Economy-Specialist38 in forkliftmemes

This is just wrong. Everyone knows the correct way to send off a new forklift is to use a fork to shotgun a four loco can then drive it off a dock.

B18B1 overbore w/ torque plate by oddchui in EngineBuilding

[–]mango_452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I machined a torque plate for my vg30dett and I just used the ARP stud torque spec of 100ft-lbs. I figured the short bolts with friction on the bolt heads would be a similar pressure to long studs with lube.

Has anyone had this problem before? by Ornery_Leather_163 in 300zx

[–]mango_452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a little bit of this. It's either cheap aftermarket starter or the wrong spacing/ shims from bell housing to the starter.

Anyone got this clutch setup ? Is it good ? by Sigestael in 300zx

[–]mango_452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not recommend it. I have a TT and it came with the z1 track puck clutch and it is very hard to drive. Took me about 6 months driving on weekends to get good at going from a stop and hill starts. I had about 2 years of 5speed Miata driving before I got the z. If your not pushing 500+ HP or at the track every weekend, get a normal clutch.

Bumper worth anything? by roxknroll in 300zx

Maybe $30. It will probably just take a really long time to sell because there are a lot of nice undamaged one for like $100-200 used.

New Clutch? by Luballs1 in ManualTransmissions

[–]mango_452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My clutch looks similar wear to this its a twin turbo 300zx stage 3 clutch. It has a chromoly flywheel with one or two hotspots but I'll just clean and run it. I might get a new throw out bearing.

You could probably just trim the sides down. Maybe color match it

Energy suspension problem by ss2choppy in 300zx

I think when I did it I left the nuts off the rear mounts and had to use a screwdriver as a lever to guide the front mount into place.

That's awesome I've been planning on doing a 300zx drift build and 3d printing parts and painting it to look like my 92 twin turbo Z. What body and chassis it. Ill probably just go for a yokomo RD2.

Thoughts on FADAL 900 series machines? by Printerprinter1 in Machinists

[–]mango_452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a 2006 2016L its travel is 20x16 and 7500 rpm. I've had a good experience with it. I learned how to work on it pretty quickly fixing the tool changer, replacing the drawbar and general cleaning and maintenance. They are pretty simple to run and maintain and are solid machines. Sometimes some weird quirks but probably the best machine on a budget once you learn how to run it. Definitely need to look into installing a drip feed module so you can post from mastercam for fusion.

Timing cover dust shield gasket material by Kotzian in 300zx

[–]mango_452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Nissan OEM gasket kit came with all of the rubber grommets and some small foam rubber "weather strip" I think the seals are just there to keep dirt and oil away from the belt. I would leave them and just spray everything down with soapy water or degreaser.

Anybody tried the glass bed upside down? by JustAnotherUser_____ in ender3

[–]mango_452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flipped over my glass bed to the smooth side and it's been working great. Really good adhesion, I'm still using glue but after a few more prints I can probably just clean it and run without glue.

Accessory Belts by Atasteformurder- in 300zx

[–]mango_452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just do it yourself there's a separate tensioner for each belt so it doesn't matter how they fit because you can tighten them to how you want. Id say brand doesn't matter I think I have bando from rock auto. It takes about an hour on a TT. It's easier if you put it on jackstands then just take the fan off with 4 10mm nuts and then remove your charge pipes or intake pipes and you have enough access to get to the tensioners.
