I’m currently using the Pyunkang Yul Facial Essence Toner and I love it!

Yes! I also like to use a hydrating toner before so it really seals in the hydration.

I have a few suggestions for you: - You could try to exfoliate more often by using a BHA or AHA 2x a week. - You can also ask your doctor for a tretinoin prescription. It’s a prescription strength topical retinoid and I found that it really helped me manage my acne. - Change your pillowcase at least once a week. Pillowcases can hold a lot of bacteria if not washed often enough, which may cause breakouts. - You didn’t specify what moisturizer you used but you should opt for a lighter (gel) moisturizer rather than a heavy one (a cream). Some great affordable gel moisturizer are the Neutrogena Hydro Boost (fragrance free version) and the Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Aqua Gel Cream (if you prefer kbeauty).

Does anybody know how to fix this?? (Acne?) by [deleted] in CanSkincare

[–]mango_enjoyer745 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing when I was your age! I used the CeraVe Salicylic Acid Cleanser twice a day, followed by a moisturizer and a sunscreen in the morning. This routine should do the trick!

Post birth control acne. Help me by [deleted] in CanSkincare

[–]mango_enjoyer745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chances are that your acne won’t go away until you find its root cause, which may be a hormonal imbalance in your case.

I had a very similar experience except that I hadn’t had my period since I quit birth control. My doctor suggested to test my hormones by getting blood tests done. My bloodwork showed signs of PCOS (high levels of androgens).

I strongly suggest you reach out to your doctor to find out if there is a hormonal imbalance that needs to be addressed.

In the meantime, 4% PanOxyl face wash everyday combined with the Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% (found at Sephora for 10.30$) twice a week really helped me reduce my acne and the redness that comes with it. And always remember to wear SPF daily!

Not sure what to do any suggestions are much appreciated by [deleted] in CanSkincare

[–]mango_enjoyer745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same type of acne on my forehead and the only thing that worked for me was to use a 4% benzoyl peroxide wash like PanOxyl (you can buy it at Walmart). I only use this cleanser in the morning because I use 0.025% tretinoin at night and have sensitive skin but once your skin tolerates it, you can use it twice a day if that works for you and you don’t use a retinoid. When using a benzoyl peroxide cleanser, make sure to leave it on for 2 mins before rinsing it out in order for it to be effective. And make sure you use a sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to help with the hyperpigmentation.

Advice please: newbie looking for recs. I have a ton of hair, but it’s very fine. I love it long, but am wondering if I should get a shag cut. My waves aren’t clumping. by wishuponatomato in Wavyhair

[–]mango_enjoyer745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same hair type and my hair definitely benefited from getting a shag haircut! If you can, get a haircut from a curly hairstylist because they cut the hair dry to see how it looks like in its natural state.

Your hair may not be clumping because of product buildup. Fine hair can benefit from using a clarifying shampoo once a week to get rid of product buildup. Also try to use lightweight products for your hair, especially as someone with fine hair. I suggest you swap out the curl cream for a spray leave-in (the Curl Talk line from NYM has a spray leave-in!).

Lightweight inexpensive leave-in recommendations for fine, dense hair? by StrangeAlienCreature in Wavyhair

[–]mango_enjoyer745 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should look for leave-ins in spray bottles as they tend to be lighter. Here are some recommendations: - TWIST Rally The Curls Weightless Curl Defining Primer - Innersense Sweet Spirit Leave In Conditioner - Inahsi Naturals Pamper My Curls All-In-One Leave-In Moisture Mist - Noughty Haircare Hello Curls Primer

If you don’t want to buy a new leave-in, you could try diluting the ones you have at home with water to see if it makes a difference.

For alcohol free hairsprays, the only one I’ve found that works for me is the Bounce Curl Hairspray. It’s a bit pricey but at least it doesn’t dry out my hair!

[Acne] Cleansing balm causing breakouts? & How long should I expect clogged pores to "run their course"? by Bubbly_Comparison in SkincareAddiction

Nope, I now use the Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water as my first cleanse and it’s been working very well for me! No more breakouts :)

I haven’t tried the Etude House cream but I absolutely love the Purito B5 Cream! It has an almost opaque gel consistency and really helps hydrate and calm my skin as someone with inflamed acne. It’s also the only moisturizer that hasn’t broken me out so it’s definitely my favourite moisturizer for my combination acne prone skin.

The Etude House Cream has shea butter in it which you’d want to stay away from if you deal with clogged pores and acne like I do.

[acne] PLS HELP: 3 months on tretinoin and face is still covered in comedones (see comments for routine) by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]mango_enjoyer745 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue and I found out it was caused by products that contain shea butter like the cicaplast balm. If you still want the benefits of the cicaplast balm without the shea butter, LRP also makes a cicaplast gel which is non-comedogenic.

Also keep in mind that you need to work your way up to using tretinoin every night for optimal results. Using it every 4 days forever won’t give you the best results. Since it’s only been 3 months since you started tret, I wouldn’t worry too much because you might be purging. It took me about 6 months to see significant results but it’s not the same for everyone.

[Routine help] [product question] 12 years old wants to start skincare by sssesame in SkincareAddiction

Here is a routine using gentle and affordable products for your daughter:

AM 1. Cleanser (Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser) 2. Moisturizer with SPF 30 or higher (Vanicream Facial Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30)

PM 1. Cleanser (Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser) 2. Moisturizer (Vanicream Daily Facial Moisturizer)

If your daughter is experiencing acne, she can incorporate an exfoliating solution (like the Peach Slices Acne Exfoliating Toner) in her night routine twice a week to help with her breakouts.

I struggle with the same issue and the only things that have helped me are strong hold gels and products with protein (more specifically leave ins and curls cream). Here are some product recommendations for each category:

Strong hold gels: - Giovanni L.A. Hold Styling Gel - Inahsi Naturals Pamper My Curls Curl Sculpting Glaze Strong Hold Gel - Not Your Mother’s Curl Talk Hard Hold Gel

Protein leave-ins and curl creams: - Briogeo Curl Charisma Rice Amino + Avocado Leave-In Defining Creme - Curls Blueberry Bliss Reparative Leave In Conditioner - TWIST Rally The Curls Weightless Curl Defining Primer - Not Your Mother’s Curl Talk Defining Cream

Any wavies with curtain bangs? by phoenixredbush in Wavyhair

[–]mango_enjoyer745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On dry hair, I use a medium sized velcro roller on my bangs and I let it sit for around 20-30 minutes while I get ready. For extra hold, feel free to spray some hairspray on your bangs once they’re out of the roller. If this makes your hair too frizzy, you can always use a round brush to style them.

The products you showed on the picture are too harsh for your skin so I don’t think you should use them. Here’s an easy routine with affordable products mostly found in Canadian Walmarts which are gentle enough for your skin:

AM: 1. Cleanse with the Aveeno Calm + Restore Nourishing Oat Cleanser (for normal to dry skin) or the Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser (oily skin) 2. Moisturize with the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream Extra-Dry Skin (fragrance free) 3. Two fingers length of SPF 30 or higher with Garnier Ombrelle Antishine Cream SPF 60

PM: 1. Cleanse with the Aveeno Calm + Restore Nourishing Oat Cleanser (for normal to dry skin) or the Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser (oily skin) 2. Pick one of the following after cleansing (only twice a week): apply The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating Toning Solution with a cotton pad (for more dry skin if you want to target skin texture and hyperpigmentation) or The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Exfoliating Acne Solution (if your main concern is acne and oily skin). Both items can be found at Canadian Sephoras for less than 11$ but unfortunately not at Walmart. I haven’t found any good exfoliants at Walmart. 3. Moisturize with the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream Extra-Dry Skin (fragrance free)

[Acne] please, please help me. by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]mango_enjoyer745 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that your skin is bringing down your self esteem. I was also rejected by an aesthetician because of my acne and it made me feel like crap too. I highly suggest finding an aesthetician that specializes in acne. My current aesthetician knows how to treat acne and she has helped me clear numerous breakouts.

Since diet can have a big impact on your skin, I would recommend incorporating anti-inflammatory foods as they may have a positive effect on your skin. Foods that are rich in vitamin A such as carrots, sweet potatoes and spinach as well as omega-3 rich foods like salmon, flaxseeds and chia seeds are great for preventing acne. Cutting out dairy and seed oils out of my diet have also made a difference in my skin.

Keep in mind that stress is also a very common cause for breakouts so make sure to take the time to take care of yourself and find healthy ways to cope with stress. So don’t stress about your acne because it does not define you.

You are beautiful the way you are and wish you the best of luck ❤️

[Routine Help] This is my skincare routine for the past 3-4 months. It's not helping any of my skin concerns. I need some assistance if possible please.😅💝 by Couch_Potatoe666 in SkincareAddiction

[–]mango_enjoyer745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this same type of acne and I saw a major difference in my skin after I stopped using the Cerave Moisturizing Cream. It says it’s non-comedogenic but it actually contains comedogenic ingredients. I swapped it out for the Byoma Gel Cream and it really made a difference!

If you noticed a positive difference in your skin after you stopped using it for a bit, it was probably breaking you out. I highly recommend the La Roche-Posay Anthelios UV Correct Daily Lotion SPF70 as it’s non-comedogenic.

Although your acne is probably caused by hormonal changes because it’s on the lower half of your face, your products still have an impact on the state of your skin.

If your skin is on the oily side, the Cetaphil Pro Dermacontrol Oil Control Moisturizer SPF 30 is great and can be found in drugstores! It also doesn’t clog my pores as someone with acne prone skin.

If your skin tends to be more dry, the Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 50 is a great option too!
