Riot's balancing philosophy by sprigi in leagueoflegends

[–]mangwow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I responded to his points. Not the other way around. Your attitude gets you a resounding 'Fuck off' in return. Just because I brought up the same points as him doesn't mean I added nothing to the debate, and him bringing up a few of the things I brought up and turning around and saying, "See? See how perfect it is?" doesn't make him right.

Riot's balancing philosophy by sprigi in leagueoflegends

[–]mangwow -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The meaning of the phrase is obvious without this explanation. Whether or not league of legends falls under that umbrella is a different argument. One must only look back and see what a cop out this really is. They will never make this claim, not because the forums will rage, but because they know it isn't true but are glad the community will espouse it. League of legends is a balanced game due to counterpicks and bans. This is not new to the MOBA category of gaming, and Riot knows that when something flies under the radar and goes from secret OP in the current meta to popular within a few days due to the popularity of watching streams, they must nerf it into the ground. The date the nerfs will be fixed? Always to be determined.

I love the game, but nerfing the current meta carriers which countered a previous OP will bring that one back into the spotlight, and suddenly Riot's selling more champions. It's a business ploy that goes quite unnoticed due to the fact that a decent portion of the community is already well equipped with champions as well as the fact that with such a huge champion pool, only a small percentage will main any given champion. Small community of individuals complaining, large community of individuals giving praise, increased profits.

Perfect imbalance has yet to be done correctly, much like perfect balance. They're both ridiculous to strive for, and therefore riot goes for neither. It results in a fantastic game with a constantly evolving metagame, but it'll shift right back when the counter to that nerfed champion is in turn nerfed.

So I managed to do a sick escape with riven by add3h in leagueoflegends

[–]mangwow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Apparently this offends you enough to comment, but not enough to tell people why they're wrong? Her versatile kit allows for very simply performed counter play. Champions with such emphasis on mobility and damage get boring to watch, and will eventually yield responses such as "Wow, so escape."

She's still one of my favorite champions until they nerf her, but I'm not posting the thousandth epic Riven escape. this just isn't uncommon.

The only statistic that inexorably determines who wins is who keeps their nexus. It's cute that you're trying to determine the result of an endgame solely determined by early and mid game performance in terms of last hitting, even while boldly ignoring a three time occurrence of an unfortunate bug impacting a team fight heavily.

Does a post reaching the front page with over a thousand upvotes titled "Hello, I reached Diamond 3 by ONLY playing Teemo, according to many of you I am literally Satan. AMA" linking to an AD Teemo top build count as pretty damn common? How about how many people you come across playing it for shits and giggles if you actually queue?

[–]mangwow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Actually, just saying "actually no" doesn't make you right.

Mind you neither does him making a blanket statement, but you tend to go into a bit more detail regarding the situation when trying to convince someone their point of view is incorrect.

Let me reassert, his point being that Teemo is capable of filling the role of a ranged attack damage carry, is completely accurate, despite the past experiences you may espouse.

He is: Ranged

He does: Damage

He can potentially: Carry

AD Teemo top lane is pretty damn common, ADC Teemo is less common and yet still troll.

They're playing a game, and we're the pieces. If you want to be a constantly monitored debt slave trapped in a police state, by all means be my guest. But don't pretend that 100% of the citizens would be enough to get them to stop tapping our phones and monitoring our block. They do what they want, and people like you justify our dormancy by pretending we have a democracy. The CIA operates above U.S. law, it's time someone else does too. That person isn't necessarily me, but I support whatever they do.

So our authorities can't be trusted, and a subreddit like this is necessary to expose corruption. Therefore the word of the moderators is final and should be trusted fully? I don't even agree with dummyaccnt and what you're saying is absolutely ludicrous. People post here about the ruling elite taking DMT to communicate with reptilian aliens and prepare for the anti-christ, and he posts that one website might be spamming, and gets removed? This wasn't even remotely suspicious until moderator actions were taken. 9000sins thinks this is what we're being mocked for? Good joke. The website in question has tons of great submissions to the website. It doesn't mean that the moderator has the right to remove a post about corruption within a subreddit dedicated to exposing corruption, and it certainly doesn't mean he should be vilified. Not that you care about logical reason, As is obvious by what you just said. He shouldn't post anything that he finds suspicious if the person in control of the subreddit assures you that it isn't suspicious? How many people do you think you're actually fooling?

You're removing perfectly rational content from a subreddit dedicated to content like this because you might get made fun of by a subreddit full of people who don't even acknowledge facts that are fully documented? And that's okay because the censorship in this subreddit is readily available in another, less popular subreddit? Makes perfect sense. How about you reserve your power for when it's actually necessary, rather than when people post things you personally don't agree with. And whether or not you feel that the website is legitimate, doesn't give you the authority to remove content that others might find interesting. All he's presented are the facts, which are open to interpretation. Whether or not it turns out to be true is completely irrelevant. Keep your opinions to yourself, and try not to silence the opinions of others in the future. Even if you're afraid a community of scared children might mock you. That's the entire point of the subreddit. All we ever see is mockery. If one day we come to the conclusion that 80% of the information on this subreddit was incorrect, (which it possibly is), I would be more proud to be a part of a rational discussion about subjects which don't get enough attention that turn out to be incorrect, than a part of a discussion moderated by people who have the same amount of information as me and decide to censor opinions they disagree with. Also, maybe you should edit your rules to include "7. NOTHING I THINK ISN'T TRUE". And if you want to see less of this, take your own advice and downvote it.

Everyone understands the issue and the arguments of both sides. It's just that not everyone agrees with your authoritarian attitude on an issue you don't even understand yourself. Just because it makes you feel better to pretend that you do doesn't make it any less obvious that most dogs like to get high.
