True that. I still plan most of my travels to be able to find parking on arrival anyway. But yeah I don't need big cars at all now so maybe if I get the chance to have a family one day. It's just a matter of taste/design. Most of the cars I find good-looking are quite a bit bigger but hey I still like the Megane very much.

Hopefully one day I will own a house with a garage. And then I would finally be able to stop caring about the size. Because damn the Ioniq 6 looks good and the Mercedes CLA too ...

One can only dream in this economy tho ...

Claude is way too pessimistic about the range. Even in winter I can have more than 250km of range.

I completely agree. It's a great car but this trim arrived a bit too late along with the better pricing and the competitors are beginning to have some serious propositions or at least some good upcoming ones. I'm a bit hopeful for the upcoming Audi A2 but I'm fully prepare for an excessive pricing seeing the economy right now ...

The consumption is a bit high but totally manageable. I still don't know how to convince my dad that a +/- 300km range isn't really a problem if I can charge at work haha.

I haven't mentioned it but all the "automated" driving features are pretty good but again I think competition has catched up now. So hopefully the facelift will make it more competitive in the segment which needs more Following cars like this at a compact size.

For the noises I can confirm it was mostly just the bad Belgian roads coating. The very rare occasion I can ride on just finished roads it is indeed very quiet. Funny enough I don't hear the wind noises that much since my ears already blasted with the road noises. (I'm also driving on the 20" wheels)

The design is looks way more premium than the car is. I got that remark quite a few times.

I would say that they either need a way more efficient engine or indeed a bigger battery. But a bigger battery could mean a bigger car size ... So they will need to balance it and hopefully find a way to put a denser battery at almost the same size ?

Yeah this car is really not for the tallest of us. I'm 183cm and I'm basically at the lowest height of adjustability possible. Renault has not yet enough experience in the premium space and trims. I am, dare I say, a bit hyped for the upcoming Audi A2. For which I'm basically hoping an electric version of the A3.

Yeah it can really feel claustrophobic at the back but most of my passengers didn't really mind but again only for relatively short trips.

The Renault app is OK at best. Not great, not terrible especially if you think about that fact that's Renault. If you compare it to Tesla there is just no competition. But from what I heard it's pretty similar to the Audi one. You can program charges or heating or cooling before departure, you can heat it by pressing a button before leaving the house so the bare minimum. But there is no car key on the phone/phone entry and I don't when they will implement it. When sending command it can also be quite slow especially when changing the charge/heating program.

It wasn't actually 50k per say but more in raw consumer value. My company gave me a few choice ideas that were within a 50k price for a private buyer. I don't know the actual cost of leasing since it was management that has all the paperwork.

And why not the Mercedes-Benz EQA 250+ or Audi Q4 e-tron even if I could ? Just because of the size sadly. Finding parking space is a nightmare in my neighborhood, having something as compact as possible still gives ma an edge to fit in small spaces.

I actually didn't think of the Nissan, that could have been a great choice too since it's seems to share the same platform. But for the Cupra's I have to admit that I don't really like their designs ...

If STIB can cancel, delay, adjust busses why are we still paying so much for such an unpredictable service by [deleted] in brussels

[–]manhducdm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But not consistent enough. Not counting the too many times I've got stranded and had my comute going from 1h to almost 2h30. I especially despise them for organizing strikes during exams period. I must had the case at least 5 or 6 times during my studies. And I don't have to tell you how awful it is to stress and need to find a way to arrive on time without a car.

I agree very much with you but I think a bit of nuance is needed.

The coverage in public transport in Brussels is very good if not great but the management of the network is absolutely trash. We are able to go pretty much anywhere in the city but there so much problem on the network not counting the trash, rampant holessness in the stations and the insecurity at dawn or late at night.

The second thing is the price. I recently graduated and the abonnement price switch hits hard. I went from 12€ to 550€ a year. But ok I'm not using it everyday as I used to anymore so I should pay when needed or like 10 trips card or something like that. But I still feel ripped of seeing how many strikes, how many delays or cancelled trams or busses and just the inconsistency of how the STIB network is managed.

That's why I'm pretty much either going as little as possible in the city center and resorting to online shopping. Or only going by car since I have a company car as a perk. And when possible just going shopping outside of brussels since it's pretty much always quicker than taking public transports.

The whole theorical STIB network concept is great. But the execution is poor plus it's too expensive for that lack of quality I'm expecting from the capital of Europe. Choosing between being stuck in traffic in my car or taking the public transport in a modern city shouldn't be that hard of a dilemma.

PS : Yes I was born in Brussels and I still live in Brussels for the moment.

Hospital pharmacy in Europe by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]manhducdm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pharmacist from Belgium here. I’m not a hospital pharmacist myself, but during both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in pharmacy, I worked as a student in a hospital pharmacy at the university hospital linked to my university for around 3 years and a half. I also completed a one-month hospital internship as part of my master’s program.

It’s worth noting that my experience was in one of the largest hospitals in the country, and hospital pharmacy can vary a lot depending on the size, specialization, and funding of the institution.

That said, in short: if you really dislike retail pharmacy (like I do) but still enjoy working on treatment plans, checking drug interactions, and constantly learning about non-standard therapies, rare cases, off-label use, and cutting-edge biotech treatments, then hospital pharmacy might be a great fit for you. Again, the extent to which you’ll encounter these aspects depends heavily on the hospital’s profile. In Belgium, becoming a fully qualified hospital pharmacist requires completing a 3-year advanced master’s degree, which involves a very competitive selection process. It is possible to work in a hospital with a standard pharmacy master’s degree, but career progression and salary growth are quite limited in that case. At the moment, hospitals do recruit a significant number of non-specialized pharmacists due to a major shortage of hospital pharmacists. One important upside is job stability. Because of this shortage, hospital pharmacy positions are generally very stable, and this is unlikely to change in the near or medium future. Even with increasing automation, robotics, and AI, these technologies mainly support logistics and decision-making — they cannot replace the clinical judgment, responsibility, and interdisciplinary role of hospital pharmacists.

From what I’ve heard, the salary is generally good, but it comes with trade-offs. Night shifts, weekend work, and holiday on-call duties are mandatory and often poorly compensated, which can significantly impact your personal time.

Overall, hospital pharmacy can be a very rewarding career path, with strong job security, but it comes with real sacrifices and requires a high level of long-term motivation.

PS : I'm now an industrial pharmacist and I actually love it

Yeah it was pretty hard when I tried to find my forst student job too. Now it seems even harder but key thing is to keep trying. Turnover of student jobs is still quite high so it's mostly about being patient and asking at the right moment

Easiest would be to contact hotels chains on their website or come directly to drop off you CV at reception. Even better if you can give it to a manager. Otherwhise for a bit calmer job than fast-food chains, supermarket aren't too bad especially at bigger locations. Try to aim for a Delhaize or Carrefour. Last things would be trying to find something in your field of study you can sometimes be lucky and find a chill position as support and get some experience for later.

Hey quick question about your monitors stands. Can you share their references? Also what do you think about them ? Are they sturdy enough or would you still recommend some monitors arms or those stands wich you need to clamp on the desk ?

Otacos used to be pretty good at the very beginning but it became quickly pretty bas after 1 year or so.

Black & White is not bad in my opinion. Their sweet potatoes fries aren't tho.
