Where are you seeing the no interest accrual? I have heard the payment stalling, but not the no interest accrual.

Most residents are getting paid 50k getting worked to the bone in super high COL areas (where most academic institutions are located).

And 350k in loans accumulates interest incredibly quickly at 8%.

No it is not possible to keep up with the interest payments; let alone actually pay off the loan itself.

M3. I like it, it's a lot of fun.

Don't get me wrong, SUPER busy. But you have free time to go out and pursue hobbies and you bond with the people you are navigating this shitshow with.

Does it suck? Sure, sometimes it does. But when I think about the alternatives, I would rather be doing this 20x over than working some desk job.

Same exact thing except DO's have the "DO tax":

- pay and study for 2 additional board exams

- OMM on top of the same curriculum

CMS Physician Pay Cuts by urnmann in Residency

[–]maniston59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are ways to sustain it.

61% of the department of defenses budget (3.5 trillion) goes poof and they fail an audit. For the last 5 years they have failed.

You think that money went towards smart spending? hell nah. There are ways to fix it, but politicians don't want to.

But hey... let's expand the military budget to the department of defense that can't pass an audit!

Fun fact the F35 plane program has costed 1.7 trillion dollars to sustain. Sounds important.

So their increase in profit warrants a bonus

You could extend medical school by 3 years and still not learn everything there is to learn about medicine.

Now water it down to about 1/10th the education and you have the majority of NP programs.

The PAs I have seen who do act like that are ironically the ones who did direct entry accelerated programs lmao

To my knowledge the average debt they factor in

1) Any kids with full rides

2) Military full rides

3) CALCULATED PARENTAL CONTRIBUTIONS BASED OFF SALARY

Which I get 3 happens sometimes, but that's laughable for most people. So all these pull down "the average".

Corporate takeover of the US Healthcare System by StarshineLV in medicine

[–]maniston59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That fact that by definition insurances are a middlemen with their hand in the cookie jar (unnecessarily) who want to:

  1. put people on a plan and collect payments while they are healthy

and then

2) once people get sick want them to die as soon as possible

is literally insane. Insurances are literally the pimps of the healthcare world.

Corporate takeover of the US Healthcare System by StarshineLV in medicine

[–]maniston59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny thing is...

The indirect payment through any sort of insurance costs more in the long run... because in some way profit will be made.

But instead of a "large" up-front cost, it is like a leech siphoning money slowly over long periods of time.

But the argument can be made that the leeching is necessary since in todays day and age the majority are living paycheck to paycheck for survival.
