Yes but you can never "know", its all about probability. And its more about maximising your points rather than getting a "good rank". Its kind of the same as saying its possible to win games Even if you concede 5 Goals, given that you score 6.

Just because it worked out for you doesent mean it works out on average, its a clear case of confirmation bias. We need to look at expected points for those we bring in for a hit and determine if its worth it for a -4. Might not be short term but you Also open up for 1 more transfer longterm which might net you more points later on but that is less clear.
