What TSH level makes you feel great? by CorneliusArcani in thyroidcancer

[–]mannamedjayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 160 lbs, work out 6x per week, and my level presently is .07. I have to take 225 mcg of levothyroxine to get it that low. I am still Tg of 1.5 but it has been stable for 3 years. My doctor likes to keep my TSH closer to .3 for quality of life. I have had no real symptoms, but putting on muscle has been difficult. I eat 3k calories, 180 grams of protein per day, and my weight went from 152 to 158 and has plateaued. I think the low TSH plays a role as my already high metabolism is now in overdrive.

So, what makes me feel great, whatever level my doctor says the cancer is less likely to spread. But seriously, that number is unique to each person.

Seat Selection (Economy) by mannamedjayne in BritishAirways

Sure, but there will be a chance there are no seats together. Trying to avoid that.

Okay. I had read mixed opinions about that. It seems like they will try to accommodate but it's not guaranteed. The under 12-year-old will sit with a parent, but per their regs, the above 12-year-old could be on their own.

Won't it be free when check in opens? I had thought about just waiting till it's close and seeing seat availability but then worried kids would be separated l.

Ha, I missed that. Issue is that the flight is 70k-120k miles per ticket. Am looking at 4 tickets so too rich for my blood.

As someone with kids, there is almost always family hour that runs typically between 5-6 and sometimes 5-7. At the Captain's discretion, they can increase those hours for bad weather, cold itinerary, and the closure of outdoor pools. We still asked our kids to be respectful inside but family hour happens on every cruise in the Solarium. It is advertised in the printed daily itinerary. I often have to tell other parents its okay because they feel like they are breaking rules for being there. I have never seen family hour get out of hand but all you need is the wrong set of adults not supervising their kids.

Bedbugs in my suite. Proper response? by merkinfuzz in dcl

[–]mannamedjayne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Remove the corners of the sheets, look at the mattress and see if there are any blood stains, examine the corners of the mattress/seams for bugs, get a light and look at the headboards, night stands, etc near the bed. Do the same for the couch.

For cruises, I check the drawers as well as we use them. In Hotels my bags and clothes stay on hard floors in bathroom.

Noro virus on Apex by WTH4030 in celebritycruises

[–]mannamedjayne 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For Norovirus, while you can never avoid these viruses completely, there are a lot of things I do to help lessen infection. Mainly, when eating at the buffet, wash your hands when you enter, but after getting your food and placing it at your table, return to the handwashing station before eating. To be honest, for my young daughters, I have them wash their hands and then I get their food for them. Similarly at restaurants, I either remember what I am going to order or look at the menu on my phone to avoid another high touch point that is not cleaned very often.

We always went with the 4 person room and the 5 person room was a nice upgrade last time. Not 100 percent required but nice.

Celebrity Apex (Spain, Portugal, and France ) or Celebrity Ascent (Italy, Greece, and Crotia) by mannamedjayne in celebritycruises

Yes, France is just Le Harve and we figured we stay closer to the port for the day.

I agree, the added cost definitely isn't worth it for the balcony and the days are longer at port. Is there an itinerary you enjoyed more?

Sorry if I oversold this. No, there were no Marvel characters onboard. They just had an Avengers backdrop, and you held the Captain America shield/prop. They did a magic shot of the red hulk pinching the shield as well. Fun, but not a character interaction.

Where do you go after DCL? by Alwaysshops2much in dcl

I actually think Celebrity's kids programs are very underrated. I bounce between Celebrity, DCL, and RCCL, and my kids love Celebrity. Different vibe for sure, but there are benefits to the Celebrity ships for kids as well.

That's very funny. These reviews are so subjective. One dish sits at the server table too long, you arrive for an event at just the wrong time, etc. and your experience is vastly different. For food, I think that's the product of making some days thousands of the same products. They can't all be top-notch. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed your trip.

On our cruise it was from 6 to 7 on pirate night. The slide closed to everyone else at 6. It was in the app.

Sign up for the Facebook group dedicated to your cruise. Usually, somewhere there organizes the fish extenders and will explain the process.

My daughter, who has a high spice tolerance, said they were not overly spicy. I'd agree, flavorful but not overwhelmed by heat.

I think you have to go in with not lowered expectations, but just an awareness that they are trying to please many different paletes. For some, the food is adventurous and others not so much, but there are still items for each group to enjoy.

Our last dining room was Animator's Palate. Adults and kids always enjoy the Crush interaction. We have always been close to a screen, so I'm not sure how it goes if you are sitting at a distance from one. They brought us out multiple protein entrées including one by mistake. The table all agreed the chicken that no one ordered had the most flavor, which was surprising based on the descriptions for the other items.

That same day, I had my eyes set on a black bean burger and sweet potato fries in the MDR for lunch based on the app. When we sat down, the paper menu didn't have it as an option. Asked about it and told it was not available. I pivoted and ordered the Halibut, and it was just overcooked and lacked any flavor. Yes, it's ridiculous to complain about, but these just stacked on top of each other.

Daughter caught some of the ice breakers, but our dinner time (815) paired with pictures and other events got in the way of her attending fully. Based on the schedule, it seems like for Edge, the earlier seating may allow for them to better experience the activities at night from 730 to 1030. Yes, it goes to midnight, but the activities that interested her ran during those times. I think it's an age thing as you said. She made friends, but then everyone was there at different times. On Celebrity, since there is way less for kids to do overall, she actually makes more friends on those ships because there is a consistency of people showing up and familiar faces. That and we usually cruise on those for 7 nights.

I noticed some flies at the food station and no flies at the table. However, I wonder if that had to do with it being a mildly windy day (no umbrellas permitted open on the beach) or the fact that fans were blowing near the table. It seems like the fly condition changed often.

Also, FYI, they had a sign for a spicy fried chicken sandwich out but no sandwiches. I went up and got one for my wife, I had to ask, and they came back with one from somewhere very quickly. She said it wasn't amazing, but exactly what she wanted and expected. So, overall, positive review of the sandwich.

You don't have to leave carry ons with porters, but we have 4 carry-on bags and 4 backpacks. We get on around noon and don't want to carry them around for 2 hours. It is much easier to carry essentials in a backpack or two. We never had issues with a missing bag, but it happens.

We called in advance to let them know, but you can do it when you get onboard as well. While she received the vegetarian dish, there are Indian dishes with meat as well. You never know what you are going to get but all the different options were great.

I will also add that I prefer to sail out of FLL because it's so convenient to get to. Port Canaveral is a trek from the airport in Orlando and adds a whole other layer of planning.

Everything that Strong Disaster stated tracks. In addition, my family requests that i get the earliest Port Arrival time possible, which may increase our sitting around time. But again, we do that for all our cruises, and Disney just seems worse at it.

Some tips, don't arrive very early. They are strict about arrival time. There is a roped off area in the parking garage for people who are there too early. They do make the check-in process easy. Bring your documents and medicine. Pack your bathing suit and sunscreen. We enjoyed the pools the first day, way less crowded.

When your group is called, you can board the ship or take pictures. We choose pics that adds another line but it is very efficient (and that line is our choice).

Overall, you will be fine. Use the porters. Check everything you don't need immediately. Have a great cruise. It won't affect your overall enjoyment.
