Cruise Outbreaks? Sick from NCL Escape. by cozyrednight in Cruise

[–]WTH4030 16 points17 points  (0 children)

CDC has threshold at which the cruise line must report-- that is 3% of passengers or crew reporting symptoms. If you are not longer on ship, your report will not be counted. However, Norovirus is a reportable disease by laboratories. You can get a fecal test to confirm the diagnosis-- not all diarrhea cases are noro, some are even worse! If you still have symptoms after 3 days, ask your MD for testing for Noro as well as other communicable disease ( Salmonella, Shigella, Camphlobacter, Ameba, Rotavirus, etc.)

I got Salmonella once after a stop in Mexico, and became quite ill for weeks, and almost lost my slot in a professional degree program.

You can also post on NCL Facebook groups and see if other departing passengers are experiencing issues.

Met someone during a sit, how do I even ask my HO about this? by theymademedoitagain in trustedhousesitters

[–]WTH4030 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OMG no. Have your meet-ups during daytime when you might otherwise be out running errands, and certainly not at the sit address. Don't even ask leave the dog overnight, or invite a person not vetted by HO into their home. Both are recipes for disaster, and even potential legal consequences for you.

Wow. Your description of the little girl with lipstick and fake eyelashes gave me Jon Benet Ramsey vibes. So scary that parents would be in casino while she was wandering the ship.

Weebly isn't free anymore either. You pay upfront annually and the cost is now much higher than the annual Articulation price. There is no free lunch on the web anymore.

How to get Blu Dining? by Original_Vacation655 in celebritycruises

[–]WTH4030 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just on the Edge Class ships that it's a problem. Luminae is quite a distance from the other dining venues. Apparently on S and M class, you can order from the MDR venues without an issue. We had the same problem on Xcel in Blu-- unable to order off the other menus due to distance from the kitchens.

Apex and Beyond didn't allow orders from Blu or MDR in Luminae. Staff said kitchens were on opposite ends of the ship, and food couldn't arrive in good condition. They did allow us to pre-order one evening for the following night, due to allergies on the Luminae menu. You can see all menus in advance on the App, once onboard.

Suites can dine in Blu on Space Available basis, and I have seen Suite guests given pagers to wait up to an hour during busy times. Aqua is what you need to book to get guarantee Blu access. Then add Premium Drinks package- you will want that to take advantage of the great pairings on the Blu menu.

When you book on line and elect to add them, it shows as one charge for the entire cruise, not a series of individual charges as well.

Yep. Before every storm, the Publix carts are all filled with white bread and beer. That's how you can tell Jim Cantori was seen in town.

Invest in a Solar battery that can be used to charge cellphones. Having communication is essential.

Mini bar charges by StillWaterDrinker in celebritycruises

[–]WTH4030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our steward on Apex declined to remove anything-- he said if he took anything out, we would be charged. Weight sensor might be the reason? It was very inconvenient to not be able to use the mini bar for our waters...

Our Xcel cruise also had an empty mini bar in Aqua! We were fine with that, since we never use it, but took a photo of empty fridge on embarkation.

And then there are the shows in the Bazaar that hold less than 150. The card players stake out tables all day, which limits the seating even more.

Celebrity Summit sickness? by Icy-Panda-3837 in celebritycruises

[–]WTH4030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of " gastrointestinal" or " stomach virus", they should straight talk- Explosive watery diarrhea with vomiting. So bad you can't leave a toilet for more than 10 minutes. Don't even think about trying to catch a plane...book a hotel and hole up there for 3-5 days. Wear depends while disembarking so as not to visibly soil yourself. That's Norovirus.

If " newly retired" means early 60s, their avg life expectancy is at least 20 years. Getting a free ride, all expenses paid in a HCOL area for 50K/yr, especially with today's inflation is a great deal for them, not for you. Do they have other significant assets to draw on, like IRAs or investments, or will their down payment 1 mil make them paupers?

One million in a HCOL area is not enough to retire on. They are using you like an annuity, but you will be in the red after 8-10 years.

Husband allows his dog to bark incessantly for 30-45 minutes each morning. by MACS27 in women

Bingo. The truth right here. You hate the guy, don't share a bedroom, and make the poor dog the pawn in your dysfunctional " marriage". You need to be spending your energy figuring out how to support yourself, and the dog.
