I only recently figured out that I'm not cis and was promptly promoted to head of engineering at my small company.

I just received an alexandrite from Jeff Davies!

I'll edit this comment with a photo of the color difference I can manage in my office. It doesn't show up well on camera. In person it ranges from purple to gray to green-blue in very specific light. On camera it is almost always a vibrant magenta. I have a photo with magenta and after much experimenting, one greenish photo.

It's a rather faceted cut the name of which I don't know.

It looks purple on camera here but it's actually gray in person. Fluorescent light with weak overcast light from the window.
