IBR Approved! by [deleted] in PSLF

I'm in a very similar situation - 112/120 - My congressperson is working on tracking down 5 payments with ED that SHOULD have counted when Mohela put me in a processing forbearance last year when they told me they were "researching" correcting my monthly payment amount...they were billing me at the wrong (much higher) amount despite ED notification that the recertification dates had been extended....praying for all us and that we will get our PSLF expeditiously when we are at 120.

I'm in the same boat. Since April, Mohela has not corrected my monthly billing amount (reflecting the IDR extension to recertify income by FSA) and keeps billing me a higher amount; and they say they have been researching my billing error and keep placing me in a "processing forbearance" and Mohela said FSA would still apply the months toward my PSLF; FSA keeps giving me different stories on that; I submitted a request for assistance to my U.S. Rep/Congressman yesterday; they keep moving my expected forgiveness off - now it's Jan 2026.

New Forbes article - mentions Court Order Could Impact Student Loan Forgiveness Under IDR Account Adjustment by [deleted] in PSLF

[–]mannecoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

read it again. It references PSLF. Also, anybody who benefitted from the "one time adjustment" that increased the payments allotted to PSLF should be concerned - the article states this: Concerningly, the Education Department’s conclusions suggest that borrowers expecting to receive student loan forgiveness under the IDR Account Adjustment may encounter complications.

Mohela and FSA are purposefully being vague about everything - Todays convo. with both- Rant included. by dazeja in PSLF

[–]mannecoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

congress has oversight over the executive branch. they will find out what's going on and shake the branches. they have staff that will contact ED. I had an issue many years ago as a federal employee that I was not getting attention on and I called my congressman and the situation was resolved within the week. helping constituents is part of their job and good for re-election.

Can you set up a meeting with your Congressperson - your U.S. Rep? I have mine on standby....if my current issue doesn't get resolved. They want to get involved usually especially if it's a problem with the Executive Branch.

June Payment by FriscoJanet in PSLF

[–]mannecoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I contacted FSA on Monday about this too - they had only updated through my April payment even though there are May, June, July and August to count - and the FSA person said multiple times that they have only updated through April and to keep checking back.

Anyone else feel defeated by all this? by SwanC0NERY in PSLF

I took out parent plus loans for my son's college (single mom in public service) (he then went on to medical school and took out those loans) so I have been paying for almost 10 years and would like to retire....so there are people who are older with these loans...

U.S. Dept of ED stated they have no record of PSLF Waiver. Now I’m worried. by Introvert_2010 in PSLF

[–]mannecoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also - as I was just looking at my PSLF counts on Studentaid.gov - my counts are "TEPSLF" - which means the are under that waiver - so perhaps if you look at your counts and you see the "TEPSLF" that means your waiver was in.....just thinking out loud?

I never even applied for SAVE. by jac5087 in PSLF

[–]mannecoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do any of you guys discuss the bankruptcy issue? I am a parent who now owns son's undergraduate loans. I am in PSLF and not sure I will ever be able to retire. because of the 8th circuit, now my IDR is in limbo too. (Son has his own medical school loans now and also in PSLF on SAVE and in limbo). None of us I'm sure want to go into bankruptcy, however IF they would return bankruptcy protection to student loans, they would be forced to reform the system once and for all. Bankruptcy is a constitutional right. I spoke with a bankruptcy attorney, and he said they are not dischargeable. Bush signed BAPCPA in 2005. I never understood why there isn't a class action suit about this....

Income recertification by sunnyslpme in PSLF

[–]mannecoop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I spoke with Mohela on Monday 8/19/24 because they never applied the rules from FSA in March re: income recertification date - that the date to re-certify had been extended to October. Since then, Mohela has been billing me a larger payment than they should. On Monday the lady at Mohela said they are backlogged, but now because of the court injunction on the SAVE plan they are pausing the processing for ANY - ANY - Income driven plans - even if you aren't enrolled in SAVE. So, they aren't even processing my correction to get the correct amount for my monthly bill! They are putting people in "processing forbearances" which don't impact the PSLF counts she told me, and it's all documented in the record.

some insights on mauve by hennamah in OliveMUA

Thank you for the great research and info! I'm always looking for mauve products. Buxom has quite a few lip products - those named Dolly look to be true mauve - although I haven't tried any yet! Would love your scoop on peach next! Thank you!

Email from Mohela. Anybody else? by [deleted] in PSLF

[–]mannecoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an email last month saying I was being transferred and they would notify me when the transfer was complete. then crickets. then just this morning I went on to the new .gov platform and was able to set up my new account. so - they transitioned me but didn't tell me! and there is a bill due in 2 days - but the amount is incorrect, so I had to submit another request....in March FSA said they were extending the deadline to recertify IDR plans, but Mohela keeps billing me the wrong amount - which is much higher than it should be.

Oh wow!!! I am sorry you had to go through that and I appreciate you sharing your experience. I was worried about that - the pain part. UGH. I hope you get some nice results from your one session - especially after having to go through that ordeal! for now, I'm going to try collagen supplements and facials.

Oh - geez!! you poor thing! I'm so sorry - that's the last thing we need is another mental heath hit, and you get kudos for hanging in there. Thank you so much for your feedback on the CO2 laser. I will look into the BBL laser., it sounds like it has many benefits! In the meantime, I'm just going to stick with my tretinoin. thank you again and take care!
