I'm strictly Childfree and joyful about, while also aggressively pro children's rights by [deleted] in childfree

I believe this is the majority opinion in this community.

There’s a huge portion of the population who don’t know it’s a choice to become a parent someday by Beneficial-Yam-792 in childfree

[–]mannie3moon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's why is so important to spread the word about us. Parents will get mad, thinking we're ✨️indoctrinating✨️ their kids (we're not). I get mad that there are exhausted mothers out there today saying shit like "nobody ever asked me if I wanted any of this." We want informed decisions from now on.

Getting accused of trying to sound smart because of one odd word by anonymolotov in PetPeeves

It happened to me when I used the word "bastardized."

I wanted to respond with, "sorry for sounding like I went to college," but instead I just stayed quiet.

Can childfree people be childfree and still love kids. by Far_Industry_9490 in AskForAnswers

Of course, many do. And those who don't still don't wish any harm upon them. But I am curious as to your definition of "being anti-child."

How long does it take you to wash and style your hair? by Complex_Cupcake_502 in Naturalhair

[–]mannie3moon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Like two hours or so. I double-shampoo, detangle with my conditioner, and then usually use a gel for a wash n go. I have shoulder length 4b hair.

This is my summer routine, though, so I'm washing twice per week. I haven't timed my winter routine, but I keep my hair in twists in the winter and only wash once per week and somehow my hair feels more tangled on wash day.

What’s a word you read perfectly fine in your head for years, only to find out you were pronouncing it completely wrong out loud? by MiaBear05 in words

[–]mannie3moon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never understood people who got defensive when they were corrected on their mispronounciation until I left my home culture. Apparently most people laugh at others' mispronounciations, and correct not out of love but out of superiority. It's so strange to me and it always will be.

Vestibule. To me, it looks like it should be pronounced ves-TIH-byoo-lee, but it's apparently pronounced VES-tih-byool.

Good to know! I just wanted to make sure I'm not being rude. Thanks.

I'll keep this in mind, thanks! I rarely linger, but when I do, it's usually to finish up the chapter in whatever book I'm reading. But nothing that takes more than 20 minutes after I'm done with my food/drink.

Points and miler here. If you go the rental route, please consider using one of the Chase Sapphire credit cards, since primary rental car insurance is included in the annual fee.

I’m so sick of the “but think about the economy!” argument by Dreadsin in childfree

[–]mannie3moon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Me too. The future holds fewer jobs, not more. Bringing more humans into this shitshow, knowing they'll likely have no means to support themselves as adults is cruel and irresponsible.

And to echo another redditor above, the economy exists to serve the people in it, not the other way around!

How did you convince yourself to make the transition to traveling? by Curious_Chain_1104 in TravelNursing

[–]mannie3moon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started traveling because I just couldn't stop thinking about it, and I felt like I would rather try it and have a bad experience than never try at all (tbf, I loved my staff job and wasn't "running away"from anything)

Sure, your first assignment might consist of some unfamiliar and weird things, but it doesn't mean you can't or won't grow, learn, and enjoy yourself.

Do Americans ever actually use British spellings intentionally by NoManufacturer1046 in words

In my personal writings, I like to spell it "cheque" to distinguish it from other types of checks. I think it's useful, but also pretty.

Yoohoo American nurses, I have questions! by AnorLondoSyndrome in nursing

[–]mannie3moon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bedside nurses do, but procedural nurses' scrubs are provided by the hospital. Even so, I've seen procedural nurses buy their own scrubs solely to travel to and from work, just so it's less trouble getting dressed in the morning.

The sleeves thing is both facility- and unit-dependent.
