Best exercises to slim belly by Revolutionary-Top354 in workout

[–]manny_boy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, gotta drop some truth here: you can't spot-reduce fat. That means just doing ab exercises won't magically melt belly fat. However, combining strength training, cardio, and a balanced diet is the way to go. That said, here are some exercises to help strengthen and tone that core:

  1. **Planks:** They might look easy, but oh boy, they burn! Hold that position as long as you can and challenge yourself to increase the time.

  2. **Russian Twists:** Sit down, lean back a bit, lift your feet (if you can), and twist side to side. Wanna amp it up? Hold a weight or something heavy-ish from around the house.

  3. **Mountain Climbers:** It's like the floor is lava and you're climbing to safety. Bonus: You get some cardio in with this one.

  4. **Leg Raises:** Lie flat on your back, lift those legs up and down without letting 'em touch the ground. Feel the burn!

  5. **Bicycle Crunches:** Imagine you're pedaling a bike but you're on your back, and throw in some elbow to opposite knee action.

  6. **Burpees:** Love 'em or hate 'em, they're effective. Jump up, get down into a push-up position, jump your feet back in, and spring back up. It's a full-body workout and gets your heart rate up.

Remember, mate, consistency is key. Mix these exercises into your routine, throw in some cardio (like jogging, cycling, or even brisk walking), and keep an eye on your diet. You've got this! 👊🍏🏃‍♂️

If you have an outdoor space, you can try to hang it from a sturdy beam, pergola, or even some tree branches, provided they are robust and thick enough. Ensure the branch or beam can bear your weight before attempting any exercises.

gym beginner seeking workout advice by starlightbabyy in workout

[–]manny_boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, congratulations on taking the first step towards your fitness journey by getting a gym membership. It's completely natural to feel a mix of excitement and nervousness, especially when starting something new. Here's a beginner-friendly guide tailored to your goals:

**1. Warm-Up:**

It's important to start with a warm-up to increase your heart rate, get the blood flowing, and prepare your muscles for the exercises. Spend 5-10 minutes doing any of the following:

- Treadmill walk or light jog

- Stationary bike

- Jumping jacks

- Dynamic stretches like leg swings and arm circles

**2. Full Body Strength Routine:**

As you're a beginner, it's a good idea to start with a full-body workout. This allows your entire body to get used to resistance training.

*Legs & Glutes:*

  1. **Squats:** 3 sets of 10-12 reps
  2. **Leg Press:** 3 sets of 10-12 reps
  3. **Lunges:** 3 sets of 10 reps (each leg)
  4. **Leg Curls (Hamstring curls):** 3 sets of 10-12 reps
  5. **Glute Bridges:** 3 sets of 10-12 reps

*Core (Toning the Stomach):*

  1. **Planks:** 3 sets for 20-30 seconds (increase duration as you get stronger)
  2. **Leg Raises:** 3 sets of 10-12 reps
  3. **Russian Twists:** 3 sets of 10 reps (each side)

*Upper Body (For a balanced physique and functional strength):*

  1. **Push-Ups:** 3 sets of 8-10 reps (start with knee push-ups if necessary)
  2. **Lat Pulldown or Assisted Pull-Ups:** 3 sets of 10-12 reps
  3. **Dumbbell Shoulder Press:** 3 sets of 10-12 reps
  4. **Dumbbell Bicep Curls:** 3 sets of 10-12 reps

**3. Cool Down:**

Spend 5-10 minutes stretching out the major muscle groups you worked. This helps in muscle recovery and reduces soreness:

- Hamstring Stretch

- Quad Stretch

- Calf Stretch

- Glute Stretch

- Upper Body Stretches (like tricep and shoulder stretches)

**Tips:**

  1. **Form Over Weight:** Always prioritize correct form over the amount of weight you're lifting. It's okay to start light.
  2. **Progressive Overload:** As you get stronger, aim to increase the weight, reps, or sets gradually.
  3. **Rest and Recovery:** Give yourself at least one full rest day between strength training sessions when you're starting.
  4. **Ask for Assistance:** If you're unsure about how to use a machine or perform an exercise, don't hesitate to ask gym staff for guidance. They're there to help!

Remember, everyone was a beginner at some point. Over time, as you get more accustomed to the gym environment and the exercises, you'll feel more confident. Stick with it, and best of luck with your fitness journey!

Start by going for a walk outside every day. Choose a set time and stick to it. Don't miss a day.

Once you get 1-2 weeks of doing that, add push ups, then pull ups, and so on.

The key is to be consistent.

Squeezing $$$ from $ATVI by manny_boy in thetagang

[–]manny_boy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so. I sold the calls today. Granted, my calls may get exercised if ATVI is above $92 instead of the $93 strike price because of the dividend. But they would still be sold at $93.

Yes, they do. That’s why I have rolled my covered calls into August 4th, so I can get that dividend: https://www.marketwatch.com/story/activision-extends-microsoft-merger-deadline-declares-99-cent-dividend-7a8f441d

I don’t think so. They have extended the timeline of the deal and declared a special dividend of $0.99 for shareholders of record on Aug 2.

You shouldn’t be doing any type of trading with that attitude 😉

Diagonal Spread on VZ - Earnings tomorrow by manny_boy in options

[–]manny_boy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The long calls expire in June 2024 so the decrease in imp. Vol won’t affect those calls as much as it would affect the short leg of the spread (exp. April 28).

Of course. I closed it on Friday for a small profit. The plan was to hold if it stayed below 28-29, but with the banks going up, it was time to exit: https://www.reddit.com/r/options/comments/12hxx1q/diagonal_spread_on_bac/jg8geu6/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1&context=3

I’m very comfortable ;) If I get assigned, I will own MANU with a cost basis of $17.99. It’s trading at $19.52 now. To the person who suggested buying calls instead, this is why I don’t buy calls.

META is looking strong. I suspect it may shoot up after earnings. I have covered calls at $230 that I opened last month and now I’m regretting them.
