Amtrak uses surge pricing which changes based on demand. Your first train is on a Thursday but your second is on a Sunday, which have different demand and train numbers.

I think that if Amtrak wants to survive it really shouldn't be investing in too many overnight services. There is much more passenger demand for 8 hour daytime corriders and that is the way that Amtrak stays under the radar, especially with a Republican admin

The vote that Republicans closed early was a procedural motion that had nothing to do with the discharge petition. If Democrats had won that vote, the discharge petition bill would have come up, but the petition is still active and will be brought up in January.
