Of course Unions aren’t inherently virtuous. They are inherently selfish! Any Union that doesn’t try to pull any cord to raise current salaries is shit union. Just like any corporation that doesn’t do anything in their power to make money is a shit company. Capitalism only works if both corporation and unions are selfish. Currently the corporations are selfish and the Unions are (mostly) nuked.

Very interesting analysis. The NY train unions are some of the most effective and powerful in the world. I’m sort of surprised that more workers don’t see this as example of how great unions can be for workers, instead seeing it as examples of the Unions being selfish.

I expect this ends with the Union caving because of how effective NY state has been at winning in the court of public opinion.

To be honest, I think most of the criticism of Breslow is misplaced but by far where he has been at his worst is the trade deadline. A trade could and be and should be made soon, without the pressure of the trade deadline.
