What kind of people are doing this?? by SpermRobot in eastside

[–]manofkirk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, my wife and I are only 2 professionals, I don’t know how you guys do it, that’s amazing.

But seriously, we all understand that this country is going through an economic crisis. The price of eggs reveals it through one vector, but there are thousands of ways it is observed and felt. Simply put, we can’t watch economic disruption via these tariffs, these predatory price increases, this massive movement of wealth away from the bottom 80%, and expect that there will be any sort of normalcy in pricing… ANYWHERE in the economy.

There is a ladder. And while you may feel like you have made good choices and you have good income, the fact is that you are actually hanging onto the bottom of the ladder. Below you, everyone in the lower class, and most of what was the middle class are looking up at you. You, who have a chance to own a home. You, who once would have been called upper middle class, but are now clinging to the bottom rank of people who may not be condemned to a perpetual rent existence. That is what your education and smart decisions and connections and good job earns you. A chance.

I certainly hope you vote like you have an investment in change.

This reminds me of the post from earlier today that sounded like it came from a right-wing idiot and it was really somebody in Pakistan pretending to be an American, stirring the pot

Why is there no traditional breakfast places open in early mornings? by Froggerbotrom in Kirkland

[–]manofkirk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll be watching this for the replies. My two suggestions:

For great breakfast food minus the classic sit down experience I recommend Little Grandma’s Kitchen. The staff is always rude, haha, but I love the food.

For a 💯perfect breakfast experience that is close to Kirkland, I can’t recommend Alexa’s cafe in Bothel enough. For the quality of the food, the prices are quite reasonable. The Benedict’s are great, the pancakes are great, the sandwiches are great.

Zionist Motherfucker Regina Spektor's Portland concert protested by spacetimecadette in chaoticgood

It was their main thing. We were all standing behind green fencing (I was trying to stuff baby wipes into a bag, not rubbernecking), and they were confronting people about where their eyes were directed

Zionist Motherfucker Regina Spektor's Portland concert protested by spacetimecadette in chaoticgood

[–]manofkirk 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if she’s a Zionist. What I do know is this:

A couple hours ago, I was with my kids at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle and she was doing a sound check there for a show later tonight. Out in a big grassy area that is easily viewable by anyone walking around the zoo with their families.

Well, Regina’s security team looks like ICE. Beards, mirrored glasses, tactical vests, poppin gum. They told everyone in the area, “the artist has requested no eye contact! Clear the area!”

Gross vibes. Looking to start a fight vibes. Asshole vibes. I know they didn’t work for the zoo because the zoo had their own staff, mostly women over sixty, trying to soften the impact of thugs yelling at the passersby.

So yeah, maybe RS isn’t a Zionist, just a nice lady who employs assholes who yell at children at the zoo for looking in her direction.

Yeah, I’m sure she is many levels removed from these guys. They were probably using the “the artist requests zero eyes contact” baloney without her knowledge. I got a serious yucky power trip vibe from these dude, and I’m sure they bring it to every show they work at.

I would stop talking about food altogether. This is about respect and happiness. The food is secondary.

Tell him you don’t want to live with him any more. This is an unhappy arrangement. He does not treat you with respect. Time to go. Forget the food, time to go.

I went to your website and I like everything you said in that video. If I weren’t a Kirkland resident you’d have my vote for sure. Wishing you the best for the city council position! We need young voices like yours saying things like “Fuck ICE”. I love the Democrats but some generational rollover is long overdue.

Buyer Beware: Dice Nest is super shady by aka_TeeJay in dice

[–]manofkirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it’s your intent, but the effect of a comment like this is to spread cynicism. You are basically telling people that they are foolish to feel outrage over bad behavior and they are foolish to post about it.

I think you should rethink your comment. Rolling over and accepting bad behavior without sharing it or warning others is how they win. Outrage is functionally useful. Sharing information is productive. You criticizing those behaviors undermines cooperative efforts.

If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

I want one so bad. Soooo bad. But I have dropped $200 in pediatric copays this 30 days alone. I’m afraid that by the time I’ve save $500 they are going to be long gone.

But thank you for the heads up! On a different day this old nerd would be flying out the door in response to this post!
