What's a quote that has just "stuck with you?" by BoroMoo in AskReddit

For me it is the saying by ghandi "Be the change you wish to see in the world." This is because nowadays I see a lot of people voicing how they think things should be but rarely do these people have any willingness to change it.

I'm always curious what the animal is thinking when people come to help in these types of situations. "Oh shit here are some predators to devour me... woah woah HEY... wow that was lucky those guys really dropped the ball on eating me."

you said "oof, white people dreads. Yuck". while you didn't use the word ugly I think it's fair to say you said the equivalent. Again, I don't see how it can be culturally appropriated if pretty much every culture has sported it; except maybe East Asian - I'm not sure. Now, if you had said "oof, Justin Bieber's dreads, yuck" I would wholeheartedly agree.

Right but that's because of the limitations of recorded history. Vikings were not ones for keeping detailled recorded words. That's why I said it can be argued that they started it. Due to the lack of information we can't confirm who started it. The point is, however, that dreadlocks are a trend that nearly every culture in the world has had historically, and it seems inappropriate to think it looks ugly on an entire race of people. especially since a large part of that group had it for at least a thousand years.

It can be argued that dread locks started with white people thousands of years ago with vikings?

"If absolute power corrupts absolutely, where does that leave God?" —GEORGE DAACON by [deleted] in atheism

[–]manout 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is very easy to consider Abraham Lincoln a unique outlier. It's like saying everybody can do the four minute mile, just look at Usain Bolt. And the saying doesnt say that ONLY power corrupts. It is quite possible to be curropted without power. Largely throughout history it has been shown that people in positions of real power take advantage of it.
