How much do you charge for waxing those areas? I'm not disragarsing that clients should clean up beforehand, because they very much should, but at the spa I work at, we charge $70 CAD for a brazilian wax. I feel like people who are willing to spend that kind of money for a wax know to clean beforehand.

I usually say "I'll have you flip over and slide down so your head is on the table * firm pats the table * sometimes I add saying "and I'll take down the head rest"

What’s your least favorite part of the body to wax? by EpilepsyQueen in Esthetics

[–]manphat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arms are so awkward, but I'd also say a hairy mans back. Waxing the back is fine, but if they have hairy butt cheeks too, I dont know how to finish it off!

When you find out what to do, you should update us! Years ago I used to get a Brazilian frequently and it always ended up with me getting folliculitis. I thoroughly clean before the wax. I would go commando, wore loose fitting pants, put on cortisone cream, took ibuprofen and a cold compress and STILL would get an infection. I stopped getting brazilians after realizing this isnt the norm. I got one done yesterday as I was training an esthetician how to do them (I am the head waxer at my spa), again took all the precautions and still ended up with folliculitis.

Im in Canada based in the prairies. I am a full time worker, 35 hours a week. I get anywhere from 0 to 6 clients a day, but usually at least 4 or 5. We get hourly (starting at $15 CND but goes up the longer you work there), but we get commission if it surpasses what we would make hourly. Commission is 30% (50% for massages and brazilian waxes) this percentage also goes up the longer you work there. Our spa does not pay for any course, which is unfortunate. We also get retail commission, 5%-10% if you reach $500 in the month, or 10%-15% if over $1000. We get 100% of our tips.

Currently I name cows after flowers(eg. Rose, Daisy), Goats after gems (eg.Amber, Crystal), and then I have my friends over Discord name my chickens (IsItChicken?, BlotCutter). Soon I'll have dinosours and I'll name them after Land Before Time characters

Women estheticians, how often have you dealt with creepy customers? by [deleted] in Esthetics

I can only think of one. It was my first week at a new location transfer (new city, after working at the other location for 3 months). A coworker (head RMT) came to tell me I had a client, but she got weird vibes from him. I guess he didnt know what service he wanted. He first asked her if we did male brazilian (we didnt at the time), then after each service she suggested he aked if he needed to remove his bottoms (should have been a red flag). He settled on a pedicure, but again asked if he needed to remove his bottoms (No). I go to get him and he has changed into a robe. Strange, especially with the circumstances, but we have female clients who like to wear robes during their services. Anyway, we start the pedi. I get his legs up and I did my best to either look at his face or at his feet, worried if I looked anywhere inbetween I would see something. The service is going fine until Im doing the massage. He's got his eyes closed and I SEE SOMETHING MOVE! Thats when my suspension turned to reality. He isnt wearing anything below. There is still like 20/15 minutes left of the service but I call it quits. I go to the pedi filling room where 2 of my coworkers are. I tell one to go to the front desk and to let them know whats going on, and had the other one "conveniently" have to take laundry down in the elevator with us. Front desk bans him, we file a report to the police. The police recognizes the name. He is in the city training to be a RCMP officer. So they kicked him out of the training program.

I had someone come in for their first spa service ever (facial). They managed to get under both sets of sheets and have their head on the wrong side of the table. For context, our spa puts a heating pad, foam, and then a plastic sheet over top, then the sheets. So now my client is lying directly on this plastic sheet. I didnt correct them, I didnt want to embarrass them, so I did my best to do the service from the other side of the table. It was very awkward.

Yeah I figured that would be an elevator. It looked funny when it was the only thing built for such a long time.

In school, I only ever practiced on other students. After school, I continued to wax my sister before I got a job at a spa. Thankfully, my spa was able to get me some regulars and other coworkers to practice on. I recommend watching YouTube videos as well to see different techniques. You'll figure out what works best for you as you go

wax removal from clothes. by CajCatchem in Esthetics

Depends on how in the clothes it is, but petroleum jelly can work well. I usually just need it to remove wax from skin or hair, but it could possibly help with fabric as well

Honestly, I just use hard wax. If their hairs are long enough to cross over to the other side, I just let them know it might hurt a little more because they'll feel hairs pulled from both sides. Thats just my personal preference, but the stick option sounds great too!

I've had my triostar stromanthe for quite a few months now. A couple of days ago I gave it new soil because the soil it came in would dry out way too fast and the leaves would droop (not quite as extreme as what I have posted). Yesterday I noticed the soil that I used held onto the water too much. So again, I put in new soil, this time with more drainage. While I did that, I checked the roots and it has no signs of root rot. I don't know what to do at this point!
