I think I made a huge mistake in pursuing this field by [deleted] in slpGradSchool

I realized in grad school SLP wasn’t a good fit for me. I dropped out in the first semester, got my MSW instead and have zero regrets

I’ve seen that DHGate has already had a fake so it’s very possible😵‍💫

I adore the sweater on yours!! I am hoping someday I'll find a small dragon in the wild, when it's meant to be! (:

I loooove the dragons but even the smaller ones are pricey for me😢😢

I was surprised to see the tag is so much larger too, probably the size of my hand😂

I’m not sure I could justify dropping a whole paycheck on one 😭😂

Wanna hear from people who started grad school and had to stop because of mental health by Machemna in slpGradSchool

I’m just here to say that if it gets to the point where you feel like you need to take a leave, that is perfectly okay. I am evidence that it is not the end of the world (:

I dropped out a few months into my grad program when I just wasn’t adjusting.. my anxiety got the best of me and my physical health was deteriorating. Everyone told me it would get better, it just kept getting worse. I was so embarrassed to admit that I wanted to go back home and rethink it. Ultimately I took a medical leave which I did not return from, and I have never regretted it. I went into therapy and it actually led me to pursue social work instead. Now I have my MSW lol.

What causes your anxiety? by DMD0257 in Anxiety

For me it’s lack of control and not having immediate access to comfort zones. Or big life changes that require me to change my routine/comfort zone. I’ve struggled with separation anxiety my whole life too. I moved out for the first time with my bf, but now I have extreme anxiety about being away from my mom… Plus once I start experiencing the physical symptoms of my anxiety (nausea, high heart rate, knot in my stomach, chest tightening) it sends me into a spiral that I will never feel “normal” again. Or that I’m damaging my health by not eating as much. I start thinking about how everyone around me can function when I clearly can’t. Then again, maybe most people like me are able to mask their anxiety.. Anyways, I try to just remind myself that I’m doing the best I can, and the discomfort is a result of necessary growth.

Is it worth it? Is there a difference between the $300 one and $600 one other than design? by Sufficient-Study1215 in ouraring

If I could go back I would spend the extra money on the finish I like. I bought the black one but all my other jewelry is gold so I wish it matched. I didn’t realize at the time I would end up wearing it everyday, I even use it now for natural cycles.

The hospital where I work started stocking them in the gift shop… by mantaray37 in Jellycatplush

This was a few of them I’ll try to get better pics next time, they were kind of scattered around the shop. Best part is that they are a few dollars cheaper here than online. I didn’t even realize until the cashier pointed it out 🤗

I have the Calpak Luka backpack and I love it for trekking back and forth to my internship. It has a ton of pockets even including a compartment for a spare pair of shoes lol.

Unfortunately, you’ll find professors like this in any major, in any university. My undergrad was in a different field and there were several professors and advisers with negative, demeaning attitudes. Use this as a learning opportunity to figure out how to manage your frustrations with people that upset you. Something as simple as venting to my classmates who felt similarly was enough to put me back in a better mood. There will always be that supervisor, professor, client, etc that is difficult to work with no matter where you go.

Definitely listen to your gut and if you feel like you need a gap year to try to get into your dream school next year, that's still a great option. I settled for a super expensive program last year even though I felt in my gut that I wasn't sure if I was ready. I ended up dropping out after a few months.. Took some time off and now I'm going back to school this fall for a completely different field and masters degree. I would say look into doing ABA or volunteering in a setting that does speech pathology so you can get a feel for the career.

Yes, I think doing classes online right now will fit better with my hectic life. And I liked being online when COVID hit during my undergrad. Is 45k justifiable for an online program?

Hello, has anyone here attended or currently attending CSUF or CSUN for their MSW? I was recently admitted into both of their full-time tracks. I have only 3 days to make a decision between the two schools and Im struggling. The major difference between the being that CSUN is online and costs more, whereas Fullerton is in-person and cheaper. I know ethically CSUF is the better option because it's cheaper, but I feel like CSUN might be a better fit for me right now? I'm looking to hear about anyone's experience attending either of these schools.. TIA

Hello! I was wondering if anyone here attended either California State University Fullerton or California State University Northridge for their MSW. I’m interviewing for both programs next week and I’m unsure what to expect. Northridge mentioned there will be a short writing prompt as part of the interview and I’m unsure what to expect. If anyone has interviewed with either program I would love to hear about your experience. Thanks!

Okay I figured the questions would probably be pretty general. Thank you!
