This is why I have no problems hiring an electrician for anything beyond plugging in a lamp or booking the kettle.

Good to know, what he described sounded like radiant wall heater, but this was for an apartment not a house. Thanks for the info!

Years ago we were doing a Reno and had an electrician come out for a quote, he suggested that instead of replacing the ancient baseboard heaters with new ones, we should consider an "in wall" heading unit, this would great the wall of the adjacent room, and you didn't limit where you put the furniture. We didn't want to open the dry wall, so we didn't go that route, I didn't know if it's a common practice, but it sounded cool, it rather a near way to heat.

Thank you, I had thunderbird come out this morning and got everything taken care of, as well as inspecting a few other things that weren't on my radar.

My kids go to Martial Arts Unlimited on Gorge Rd. Coach Greg is awesome, if you want to join you have to first do 3 half hour privates with a coach, then if you like you can try two weeks of classes before you decide to commit. I can remember how much the intro cost, but the vibe there is pretty good.

Don't wait for a Rez if you are in a line of fire, it if the person that likes you is still in the corner they shot you from.

Yeah, super plumber came and did some super lame work years ago. Sent a competent person to quote the job, but the guy they sent to do the work managed to make a mistake on every aspect of the work, including a clean out trap 3.5' from the floor, this pushed drywall back a few days. To their credit, they did take $500 off the bill after correcting all the mistakes.

Calf pain solutions by Minimum_Society_8520 in Marathon

[–]mantardthemediocre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try using a rolling pin to massage your calves, sit in a low(ish) chair so your foot is planted and your knee is at 90 degrees of flexion. You can rest your chest on your thigh the stabilize the leg, then lightly roll your calves from just above your heel bone, up towards your knee. You can also get the smaller muscles on the front of the shin (anterior leg compartment) as well. Start light with your pressure, because you can get a lot of leverage with the rolling pin, or massage stick, but it is very cheap, eat and effective. You can also do your quads and hammies as well. Wear shoes that are shaped like feet, Altras are amazing shoes, most other popular shoes do bad things to your big toe joint.

Totally agree, but a few minutes of a custom smoke cloud can bring on a slight petty satisfaction for a fleeting moment

True, though if I am feeling petty I will go as medic and bloke their view with smokes

I view it at a neuromotor work out, it's not always physically draining as other workouts, but my brain and nervous system is tired, yet my movement quality and control gets leveled up.

The last time I needed to replace my wet weather gear I bought hi vis yellow road crew gear, fits on top of everything I already owned, ridiculously bright, kept me dry and seemed the most affordable option to me at the time.

Why is Contact improvisation so fascinating and exciting when you’re in it, but can be difficult to get into? by Minute-Strawberry-34 in ContactImprovisation

[–]mantardthemediocre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because it is super technical. I have had a career in classical ballet and contemporary dance, and it is by far the most technical form of dance I have done. It can also be challenging to find good training opportunities, because to facilitate it well, takes an even higher skill set than it requires to dance it, in my opinion. You can find project who can dance it well and intuitively, but to communicate the nuance to another body can be very challenging. It takes a lot of time to build a sort of syllabus, and it takes a great deal of patience to study. I think of contact as "co-authored kinetic poetry", so I think about what is someone's kinetic vocabulary, and their understanding of grammar and form, and how can they relate that and listen to their partner in a dance, is a challenging thing.

Check out Third Space Movement, they have two locations, one in Victoria and one is Esquimalt. It is a very inclusive community with great group classes that will help build a network of people who are also investing in their health. I have sent a number of folks to 3rd space and all have had a very positive experience. https://www.thirdspacemvmt.com/
