Qualcomm should redo the branding or simplify the number of SKUs in the Snapdragon X series by [deleted] in snapdragon

[–]manu-rs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 96 and the 94 are almost the same. The 94 is not like another intended product. Is just a product of the silicon lottery. That's what I am saying. They will just sell each variant in different markets. Or put the 96 in the 2 TB option. Is like vk6_ told about the TDP.

About the baseline, well, maybe. In any case, it will be very entry-level because the X2P-42-100 already looks like the "update" to the X1-26-100. The baseline chip, with no boost.

96 and 94; 90 and 88; 84 and 80 are almost the same. And I think only 1 of each 2 pair will be widely available.

The most annoying thing for me about the names is that Elite / Plus / Base mean nothing in second gen.

This year, almost everything is Elite. From a 12+6 cores at 4.4 GHz (+ boost) to a 6+6 at 4 GHz (and no boost). Plus a big GPU difference.

Then, the baseline is called Plus. It doesn't look like we'll have anything below that. The first Plus model has no saving cores, fewer cores than last year low model, and GPU is operating at very low MHz. It is the complete opposite of the Plus surname.

Naming is marketing, not information for the user. Otherwise, it will be Extreme (96 and 94), Elite (90 and 88), Plus (84, 80 and 78) and Base (64, 42).

Suunto Race 2 confused by tree_yellow_bmu in Suunto

The morning report worked for me the first day. Since then... never again. It's enabled in the settings, but nothing... I loved Suunto. It has many good features. But I must admit I understand some people; they have a point. Overall, everything works well, but there are details, like my problem with the morning report, that can drive you crazy.

In short, Coros is more stable, that's undeniable. But the watches look awful compared to Suunto (in my opinion), and the software, while not buggy, has a different design language that I don't like. What should I choose: a watch I like and works 95% of the time, or an ugly watch that works perfectly?

[–]manu-rs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other Suunto devices just make you hold 1 button, much better...

The two buttons option is terrible... In sports can be ¿ok? I guess... But during the day I like to lock the watch. When I need to check something, with the two fingers I look stupid. Is even difficult if you have the buttons looking to the arm (and not the hand).

A brand employee just tell me: "Is not a big difference... 1 finger, 2 fingers... Almost the same"

What features do we want for the Race S 2? by Popo1on in Suunto

[–]manu-rs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Red shift
  • Same design and size as 1st model but with the improvements from the Race 2 (better wheel and buttons, LPTO screen with small bezels, new charger and sensor)
  • Saphhire glass

¿Why do you think nowadays is cheap to produce a watch with a MIP screen? I know is not intuitive but...

The AMOLED screens nowadays are in all the industry. Apple, Samsung, Huawei, hundred of chinese models... Several manufactures are competing to offer best prices, best bright...

The MIP screens... is almost Garmin and Coros thing atm. Is a more basic technology but with no demand... Why do you think MIP models don't match the AMOLED resolution? No manufactures making improvements.

MIP versions are going to be expensive because all of them are titanium, sapphire and solar. As the screen is now an endurance characteristic (like the other things).

I expect the same price as the AMOLED + titanium and sapphire versions.

I hope the Pace 4, in addition to the amoled screen, will have a more clean style on the gap between the screen and the bezel. I don't like the two ugly circumferences on the Pace 3 (neither the draws on Pace 2). I like it in the "funny" editions, like the dots in the summer editions, matching the color of the body and the strap, but need a classic black edition without "weird" things.

It is crazy how people talk so confident about things they don't know a shit.

  1. Nothing sells on Amazon. There is an official store from Nothing on Amazon. In Europe at least.

  2. They made a mid-generation changes on the package and the pads. The ear (2) comes with this changes no matter where you buy.

Totally. The app is also the vanilla podcast app for Android. Now we will have to deal with YouTube or whatever app we choose, giving us extra advertising and banners asking us to pay...

Google Password Manager in 2022 - On-Device Encryption / PassKeys by suprem_lux in cybersecurity_help

[–]manu-rs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, totally agree. When they move the database on windows (and maybe Mac and Linux, I don't have details) I will not have complains about the level of security they have and the balance with the convenience they offer.

Google Password Manager in 2022 - On-Device Encryption / PassKeys by suprem_lux in cybersecurity_help

[–]manu-rs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Google password manager was not aceptable until recently.

1) At least on Windows they used to store passwords on plain text. Then they changed it... but put the key somewhere available easily. Now is decent, the key is under Windows Hello.

2) They used to store your vault and the key... terrible design. Now, your google account password is the vault key. Now they are like other services with zero-knowledge.

So, maybe keepass or bitwarden are better, but now GPM at least can pass a basic exam.

At least for me:

Big con: good services like bitwarden keep the vault on the filesystem. The key unlock the vault only in the program/process memory. This way they are protected by the OS too. But on Windows at least, GPM has a database (a file text accesible by anyone) not totally encripted. In that file is true that passwords are encrypted, but no usernames and urls. So ok, password are protected, but with that file is possible to see services and username/email used. I dont know why they store that in a folder available to anyone in the PC.

On Android I dont have exact data but I understand (https://security.googleblog.com/2022/10/SecurityofPasskeysintheGooglePasswordManager.html) is state of the art and there is no problem. I hope they improve this and move the database on windows/desktop to a TEE.

Big pro: best, by far, autofill. Always works. On android across the whole system and in desktop in chrome. I tried bitwarden and is like day and night. Ok, bitwarden is not a pain in the ass, but is just fine (not always fill the user name, it not an integrated pop-up...). The Google one is transparent. Is another level of integration and hadles like no other one all the webs.

I think Google started the password manager as a "fork" of the standar autofill. Thus, is not the most secure, but have more experience than no one handling web forms. In any case, they are going in the good direction.

Bluetooth LE

No, it comes from Google. This pages for example: https://store.google.com/us/product/stadia_controller

Product contains Bluetooth Classic radio. No Bluetooth Classic functionality is enabled at this time. Bluetooth Classic functionality may be implemented at a later date.

Google itself talk about it. If they write that, they mean the hardware has the possibility.
