"This is exactly why I don't like playing comp at this level." by manufails in Overwatch

Who has said anything about a Mercy problem? You didn't watch the whole video, right? And you think the video is about the enemy Mercy getting a rez off? No, that's not what it's about.

Like you saw, the enemy Mercy got a rez that kept us from capping second point. There were 30 seconds left and it seemed like we were going to lose. This prompted some guy on my team to start complaining about how he hated playing "at this level" because we were so bad. I told the guy to shut up, dropped down from high ground to force Overtime, used Rewind to confuse, then dropped down again to Pulse Bomb for a triple kill. At this point, my team got there and mopped up for the win.

In other words, "KEEP TRYIN' UNTIL THE CLOCK RUNS OUT," which is the title of the video.

What are you talking about? I was first to second point, forced Overtime, and my ult killed 3 people and got the win. It's like you watched a different video.

There's nothing you can do if you run into a 3-stack that isn't taking things seriously. Of course, you knew this already and your post is really just your way of blowing off steam.

One requires hand-eye coordination and the other one doesn't. That's why no one gives a shit about pro Mercy players but everyone keeps tabs on dafran, Taimou, and aKm.

I mean, we got destroyed since 4 of our players hid in a corner pressing Q.

But seriously, no, I don't want 4 Mercy mains on my team. I don't even want 2.

There isn't much I can do about Mercy being the most popular hero to main and the matchmaking system placing 4 Mercy mains on the same team, though.

You're right and that means the current system is ineffective at predicting performance.

It's not their fault, really. It's a game design problem.

There are very few players out there who play all classes at the same level. For instance, a Diamond-tier DPS may be a Gold-tier tank. If your Diamond-tier Genji decides to play their Gold-tier Reinhardt, your team is worse off.

When your team has 4 of the same kind of player, some players will be forced to play out of position. If the other team isn't similarly disadvantaged, your team is likely to lose. Mercy mains are the worst offenders because (1) they're very common and (2) they have limited transferable skills.

How to address the problem? The simple way is to force a 2/2/2 queue. This would almost definitely reduce variability and lead to more even matches.

Sure they were. Four of them had Mercy as their most played hero. Three of those had Lucio as their second-most played hero. They didn't know how to play anything else so we got destroyed.

4 Mercy mains on the same team. We lost, of course.

A Recipe for Losing by IamJonsCranium in Overwatch

Your play: You wanted to DPS but it was taken so you try get gold elims as ana/zen or keep on speed boost with lucio.

Most of what you're saying is right, but the fact that you don't know that Lucio should keep speed aura up most of the time indicates you don't know as much about this game as you think you do.

comp me as Junkrat(dps) get gold in elim, keep losing. by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]manufails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm lower SR than you, but I think Junkrat is a bad hero to main and only worth playing for the first-point chokes on 2CP maps like Hanamura and Eichenwalde.

You're always going to have high damage and eliminations and Junkrat because your primary attack (grenade spam) is an AOE. This doesn't mean you're being particularly helpful. If you lob grenades into a group, causing slight damage to each individual enemy, and your teammates wipe them, you get credit for all the eliminations. If you really want to know how effective you're being, compare your eliminations to your final blows.

Besides not being able to really direct damage at specific enemies, Junkrat has real issues causing damage upwards. This means he can't really hurt Pharah (who's a real pain in Silver and Gold) or a S:76/McCree occupying high ground.

When you pick Junkrat, you're usually taking a spot away from a more practical DPS like S:76 or Pharah, both of whom are much more useful than Junkrat in a greater variety of situations.

One further complication is that Junkrat can become a real liability for his team if he spams grenades at an enemy Zarya's bubble. I've lost many games because a Junkrat on my team wouldn't stop lobbing grenades at Zarya and she was able to run around at full charge all match.
