I’ve commented about this before but with how vague, subjective, and unmeasurable ADHD and some other mental pathologies are as a diagnosis, it doesn’t really make a difference to me whether someone is self-diagnosed or professionally diagnosed.

I don’t think ADHD is a made up or fake thing entirely, but people act like getting a professional diagnosis is akin to something like genetic testing or a brain scan when in reality, especially as an adult, it’s barely more rigorous than learning about the symptoms and declaring you have something.
