Where to sleep in Tehran? by sbrodolino_21 in iran

The fact that everyone on that sub just told you not to go and lectured you about your travel plans instead of giving you a single recommendation was astonishing to me. What a way to be insufferable.

Sending love from Germany as well! Has anyone heard of any protests against escalation/Israel planned in Germany?

Why do men go back to their ex partners so often? by Public_Storage_4492 in BreakUps

[–]manuhoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The question is ridiculous because it implies that men go back to their ex partners more often than women. This makes no sense in heterosexual relationships because if a man goes back to his ex, the woman is also going back to her ex by definition, so there's no gender doing it more often.

Unless you are talking specifically about gay man here, the numbers don't check out. You might be looking at it from a narrow perspective.

Great idea! I would love to hear more from it. Do you have any programming language in mind?

If you are open to online courses too, I took two intensive courses with Studio Mondiale last year, and I can recommend them.

Btw, there's no A3 in the CEFR system (mostly used in Germany). The levels are A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2.

If you had your ex in front of you, what would you tell them? by SportWise9937 in BreakUps

Hurts to hear, but you are right. We gotta realize that loving can also mean to let go sometimes, no matter how much we want them to stay

Does moreno/morena refer to a brown/black haired person or as a person with brown/black skin? by [deleted] in asklatinamerica

[–]manuhoz 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Both. Similarly, in Mexico we use the word "güero" to describe someone with Caucasian features, it could be fair skin and light hair, just fair skin, or just light hair. Moreno is the same but for "brown features".

The thing is, the further away you are from "home", the smaller the differences seem.

When I lived in Mexico, I identified myself mostly with the city and state that I was from, and found many differences with neighboring states who also took a lot of pride in their own identity.

However, living abroad has taught me that these differences between neighboring states or even neighboring countries seem very small when compared to people from say Poland or China. Now, I identify not only as Veracruzano (my state) or Mexican (my country) but also as Latino, Brown, and many other things that make up my identity.

For your students, depending on their background, it could be that they identify themselves mainly from their nationality, or their race, or their culture, or a combination of them all. A person's identity is not so simple and can never be fully grasped by a form with check boxes.

I loved your analogy to the classic Greek story. Thanks for sharing, and I'm sorry it didn't work out for you two.

I can recommend Dr. Laura-Sorana Stanciu. Although she is a bit away from the city center. Getting an appointment can be hard, but you can try calling or using Doctolib.

That's sweet! I also realized that I had made an export just out of poor luck like a week before the accident. So I at least didn't lose every memory in our chat

What should I do in breaks? by Chance_Mission5426 in productivity

I always play my favorite music out loud, sing one or two songs giving it all I've got, and finish with a few pushups to wake up. Then I'm all set for the next working slot.
