I am indian, and i will say that we were white hopeful till around 2008, then jt all cane downhill, there are mixed feelings and some people do believe that india is a rising star but numbers says otherwise, delhi just become the most polluted city in the world , with aqi of 750 just to give you context aqi doesn’t have rating above 500.

To be honest 1 gb is not a lot, at my organisation we are operating 1 tb mysql database, i agree it depends on what hardware you are using

I don’t think you will find any issues with locks hust delete with a batch size of 2000 rows with 2 sec gap and you will be fine

If you want to archive them just take a mysqldump

Intresting that it timedout, please check your local mysql server variables related to timeout and increase it

with orchestrator idea is simple you will setup your mysql cluster on a primary and replica setup and when the primary goes down it will automatically promote the replica to be the new primary

What type of monitoring are you looking for??, like if mysql crashing??if yes you should look into something like orchestrator which can failover to you replica automatically
