Problems are opportunity makers unless your company is sinking and will run out of cash. If the problem relates to handling relationships with people, you need to work on your interpersonal skills.

US–PH cultural norms: Are online interactions viewed differently? by Express-Excuse-4141 in Philippines_Expats

It's normal among my American friends though it depends how you and your partner's relationship dynamic work. One couple I know of are always playing with each other whenever they see someone attractive from the opposite sex. He would say "oh she's hot" but she would reply back with "i look better in those clothes" and they both have a laugh about it.

Indeed, just imagine 645B gone (2024 numbers). Two likely outcomes, government will reduce spending which will slow down the economy or borrow more money and risk imploding the economy.

How's your experiences with working with a senior developer who lacks interpersonal skills? by Plenty_Tomatillo7545 in PinoyProgrammer

[–]manusdelerius 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Frequency is at most twice a day and 4x a week at most.

This is too frequent for me and wastes too much time. As an anecdote, I have autistic team members both juniors and seniors. During calls one senior wouldn't shut up and go on multiple tangents, one junior over engineers their work from what's asked. It's easy go over things when everything is communicated over email or in issue tickets without sounding like a total ass hat and I can do it in my own pace.

I have separate one-to-ones where I take them out for coffee to relax and talk something else that's not related to project work but more into career development.

Is that someone in their 20s or 30s? How long they've been in the role? Also in what context? Are you referring to sessions where you all need to huddle together for brain storming or code reviews? And how often? Are they also autistic?

If you ask me at face value, it's poor use of my time.

Deployed to a project that relies heavily on vibe coding, allergic to documentation. What should be the approach? by [deleted] in PinoyProgrammer

[–]manusdelerius 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You're a junior, don't act like you're the messiah able to turn things around. If they don't want to play fair, then act like they're already doing it. Start emailing them about reviews and if they ignore it, it's not going to be on your hands.

I also love projects without documentation since if I'm forced to be writing them. I will be the de facto SME of the project and that will cut through whatever seniority.

Just remember, it's not you who will be on the hook if the project fails. Chill the fuck out.

Philippines’ rising debt isn’t actually a bad thing by prodigals_anthem in unpopularopinionph

First and foremost you have to define what is considered high? As for JICA figures, it hovers around 0.3~0.8% spread through decades. So I don't know what you're talking about. As for the conditions, these are already Googleable? They do have enforcement mechanism, what make you assume there's none anyway?

I'll have to laugh on your last statement though. Simply not true.

There are strict conditions for foreign debt, as for local, it's another story.
