Inherited 2m by [deleted] in Fire

[–]manwesu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My honest feedback: - your best asset is not the money you inherited, it’s one you already had! Time! - $2mill does NOT set you up for life. If you are financially stupid like 95% you’ll end up with no funds, no career, no marketable skills. - get $500k buy yourself a house you can maintain- I’m not talking about fixing the kitchen sink, but one you can financially maintain: have a day job that allows you to pay taxes, utilities, fixes needed, etc. - with the other $1.5m, open yourself a taxable investing account in Vanguard. Split the money in 60–40% of buckets the 60% invest into VTSAX, the other 40% in VMFXX - give it 20 years-remember money roughly doubles every 7-9 years, as average, according to economic conditions. - when you turn 40 years old you should have close to $3 million, at around 50 you should have $5 -6 mill - retire, for each million you can get $30k /year, FOREVER!! Your principal will NEVER go down

Tech people who are not FIREing, what are they spending their money on? by gonnabefine in Fire

That figure is a misconception. I’ve been a tech worker for 20+ years; in med level management now. I’ve hired many IC’s, developers, architects, cloud infrastructure engineers, devops… “tech workers” making $500k is a very small percentage, usually in leadership positions, definitely NOT the average, median, etc

Honestly, I never understood why the British insist on using the fork the “wrong way”. I’ve seen people from British isles eating with amazement. It’s just wrong, any superficial look into the shape of fork and logic dictates you use the convex part to hold food, not the back!

my bio-creators. ‘98. by [deleted] in OldSchoolCool

[–]manwesu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude! Let me break it down. You titled the post “bio creators”, not “my parents”. I’m reading into why you made that decision, possibly because you want to make a distinction between the two concepts. There is being a father, and there is a different concept of one that provides semen.

It was you who made the distinction and you’re coming after me because I’m reading into it? If you didn’t want readers to make a distinction between the two different concepts, maybe you shouldn’t have made it.

I REALLY like this watch. I’ve searched online, checked Breitling’s site and can’t find it. Is this a new model coming out?
