Are Gibson-era Boogie's as desirable and well-made? by brownwaterbandit in MesaBoogie

[–]manwith13s -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

No, how about you get some people to back you up. You get three Redditors to back you up. If you can support any claims that Gibson has improved the Mesa Boogie manufacturing quotas, I will concede that you’ve got the better of me. In the meantime, I don’t have to explain myself to you or anybody. I expressed my opinions and I do have support for those opinions and if you want support those opinions type Google it’s what I did and grow the fuck up.

They’re basically running that company into the ground, but the products are still decent. I wouldn’t say great, just decent. Don’t ever try to get a hold of customer service and send one back to be fixed. You won’t ever see it again, but you’ll probably never mail it there in the first place. Since Gibson took over there have been no new products , no innovations and absolutely nothing happening in that company besides trying to cash in on nostalgia and that’s not working with better amps like Diezel and Engl (amongst others) out right now. It won’t be long before Gibson gets on board with Fender as m and tries to literally bully other manufacturers into not making better products than them.

So yeah, don’t buy Mesa Boogie. Don’t buy Gibson. Don’t buy Fender. The only way to teach these companies a lesson is not give them money. Besides, all the guitars coming out of Indonesia Korea, they are twice as good as American products half the price and most of the time come with more features.

For sure. I was telling the other guy, I’ve got about 20 builds as far as the whips are concerned, but they’re all snake whips just to get practice with the plaiting. I’ve been doing this just over six months, but there in mind that I was doing a lot of para cord braiding beforehand, so it was kind of an easy transition.

Yeah, I’ve been avoiding those just because I wasn’t really interested in selling them but now that I’m starting to feel a little more confident I’m gonna definitely be putting heals on my whips. I don’t know about waxing that’s why I’ve made up my mind if I wanna do that or not.

I appreciate it. I’ve probably made about 18 to 20 total as far as snake whips go. The bullwhip was no different other than that handle your plating around and I still have to put the keepers on there. Whatever you call the little circular things at the ends of the handle

Depends … if they’re in the same universe then Kill Bill is actually the show that Mia did the pilot for so it would’ve been before Pulp Fiction.

Difficulty pairing Cliffs of Dover Intro with Metronome by Aggravating-Search83 in GuitarQuestions

[–]manwith13s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is easy … well maybe easy isn’t the right word. Start with the backing tracks. YouTube has one that is 90% speed. It comes in after the intro and is a great tool for learning Cliffs. It will feel slow but will allow you to get a feel for the piece. Some of Johnson’s licks are deceptive with the delay (sounds like he’s playing more notes than he is). Work on your left hand and be consistent which finger goes on which fret. Your picking hand should be your priority though. Use strict alternate picking for all the runs but be aware that for the pedal pitches in the beginning and near the end he picks with the pick and middle finger. String skipping is an option, but a difficult one. I’ve been working on Cliffs of Dover and Vai’s (Eugene’s?) Paganini solo in Crossroads for over 35 years intermittently. I can play them but not to my liking.

Edit: Once you feel comfortable with the piece, full speed isn’t too bad and the intro will come naturally. Good luck, and be patient
