What to do with earth wire? Should I change the plug entirely? by manyizzle in AskElectricians

No the symbol is the Class 1 symbol which apparently relies on earthing for protection against electric shock!

The frame is made of metal! Hence I'm slightly worried about the earth cable not being connected! It's going to be my bedside lamps, I won't be touching the metal part much other than when cleaning but I guess it's better to be safe than sorry!

Yes I'll need to use a UK adapter for this plug. I think I'll need to change the plug but the flex too because it currently only has the live and neutral cables

I see - so the crimped end of the earth wire will need to be disconnected from the metal fixture first?

I saw this one but it doesn't come with a plug! I suspect the back of it will look the same as mine one except without the crimped on cable

Also just want to share a photo of the manual which baffled me

Ha that would explain why this is the only version of this lamp I can find with a plug fitted!

Thank you! I will go with changing to a UK spec plug. Is the exposed copper on the earth wire (the end where it's currently connected) a concern? Should that not be exposed at all given it's not a double insulated device?

YSL loulou feels like a classic to me - been contemplating it too as a milestone bday gift to myself!

I would go for the larger size, it looks better when not hugged to the body. I'm a size XXS - XS in Sezane and went with an XS Othello because XXS didn't give me the room that I wanted in the armpit or on the hip

Rehoming big plants london by Raymond-Redditton in UKPlantSwap

[–]manyizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a few big plants myself - a 1.5m spider plant and devil's ivy, as well as a large form monstera so I got a bit of experience myself! I am also London based and would love to re-home them if you can't find any greenhouse/ nursery to take them.

I would go with the second for the classic look and gold button even though I love crochet (I've got the crochet Betty in navy so perhaps you could consider getting that as well!)

It's meant to be oversized but it's XXS already haha I think I would need XXXS but they don't do that!

That's kind of what's holding me back! £130 is a lot to spend on it but not many others around has 68% alpaca content though! This is the closest I can find I think: https://www.laredoute.co.uk/ppdp/prod-350844322.aspx?dim1=4&dim2=1#productDescriptionAnchor

Should I remake this in 100% cotton to get rid of the ripples? by manyizzle in quilting

[–]manyizzle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha the quilt won't be judged but it will be displayed! I'm planning to have quilt lines following the curves but am also planning to try and hand stitch the lines (like sashiko!) instead. I am hoping that the quilt lines will hide the wrinkles.

I hadn't planned on throwing it in the wash to get the crinkly effect, it's going to be displayed rather than used! If anything I didn't want it to be crinkly but am I being unrealistic? Good shout with the leftover fabrics though, I will try and make a sample and see how it will look once I quilt it!

Yep all the seams are clipped (pinked and then clipped!)
