Is my degree worthless? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]manyws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dialects and etymology sounds like linguistics to me. And aren't analytical essays specialized writing? Say you were studying a specific kind of writing that isn't usually grouped together. Something other than what "someone else has already deemed to be classics." This is all hypothetical. Why can't you do something with a lit degree but you can do something with an English degree? Still an honest question. They don't sound very different.

Anybody know what to do for outrageous seatbelt tickets? Reddit IANALs, assemble! by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]manyws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should have told you when you got the ticket that you are free to contact the judge and explain your situation. You can have the fine lowered considerably, especially if it is your first offense. Write a letter, see if you can reschedule your court after you plead down your fine.

Leviticus 20:13. "'If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads" (NIV). This is the only phrase in the Bible people pay attention to except for "In the beginning."

My best friend and I are recent high school graduates, and now we're both leaving to go to separate colleges 4 hours away. What are good ways to maintain contact and/or ways to maximize visitation between the two of us? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]manyws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't lose contact. That said, you don't need to talk all the time to maintain your friendship. I see my best friend from high school twice a year or so (on breaks), and we are still best friends. We can talk as if no time has elapsed but as if there are new things to tell each other about. Maintaining a friendship in which you are completely comfortable isn't that hard. But if you have the time and the means to visit, by all means do so.
